- Wedding: July 2012
So this hasn’t really occured to me until now because I don’t think when my sisters got married they did hotel room blocks.
I just checked my guest list and it looks like we have 15 invited guests that are from out of state. Although one is only an hour away from the venue there are maybe 1 or 2 of people in state that are close to 2 hours from the venue. Do I block off rooms and if so how many and how far in advance? For what it’s worth, we are 99% sure that at least 2 of the 15 people will not be coming and reasonably sure that probably at least another 4 or 5 people from out of state won’t be coming. Of the out of state guests, I think there are only two people who don’t have any friends or family nearby.
Should I just block off 15 rooms at a nearby hotel? And then once I got my RSVPs back if I only needed 5 I could cancel the other 10? The wedding is on a holiday weekend (Saturday after July 4th) so that might be a factor as well. How far in advance should it be done? We’re already at less than 5 months out so I am thinking soon.
