i've stayed at the ritz a couple of times and their service cant be beat! they upgraded us on both occasions (one was my birthday and the other was the night of our engagement). they have enormous suites (not that common in nyc) and the view is unbeatable. but if you are into something more trendy, then the others you listed might be more up your alley. i've visited a friend at the gansevoort - room was kind of small, but well appointed. haven't been, but have heard that rivington is on a sketchy street. where is your wedding? maybe that can help narrow down the search.
I got engaged at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park and LOVED IT! I'm getting married downtown and I'm planning on getting ready there and staying there on my wedding night. It's fabulous and the service is perfect.
agree with ghkim9 that Hotel on Rivington is in a sketchy street. Other options include Tribeca Grand, Gramercy Park Hotel, W Union Square, and the Mercer - which are all very nice. As to the ones you've mentioned above, the Ritz is great (we thot about getting married there). The Ganesvoort is also very nice. It depends on your style too since the Ritz and Ganesvoort are very different. Where are you getting married?
We're getting married at Battery Gardens which is just on the opposite side of the park from the Ritz, but we're taking pictures in meatpacking and with the West Side Hgwy right there, I thought I would explore other options.
But I am definitely sold on the Ritz Carlton now! Thank you everyone for your input!
The Hotel on Rivington Street is nice...IF you don't plan on going outside....so yeah, it wouldn't be my first choice...i've lived on the Lower East Side most of my life and while the neighborhood is definitely changing...it's not a place I would choose for my wedding night stay....
If you plan on staying at any of these hotels - remember to make your reservations early b/c the rates go up as it gets closer to the date! We're also trying to decide b/t the Ritz and the Rivington but b/c we want pics at the hotel - we'll probably choose the Rivington due to the colorful decor of the hotel.

Hi bees! I know there are many NYC brides on our boards and I am asking for some help choosing a hotel suite to getting in the night before/day of the wedding. I think it would also be easiest if we booked the same hotel for the wedding night as well.
Our wedding is in downtown, so we're looking into Hotel Gansavoort, Ritz Carlton Battery Park, Hotel on Rivington, Soho Grand, etc.
Has any of you ever stayed at a NYC hotel and loved it or hated it? More suggestions are totally welcomed!
Thank you once again!
