We had a hotel wedding and it was better than I ever could have imagined. We had some hotel guests watch our ceremony but they were at a considerable distance and not a single person bothered us or got in our way. It was actually really fun since we were almost like mini celebrities that weekend. We'd have people stop us in the elevator or on the grounds and tell us what a beautiful wedding we had, and we weren't even in our wedding garb. The hotel guests were so nice and they loved that there was a wedding going on while they were there. One couple was celebrating their anniversary so it was really sweet to get to talk to them for a minute.
I've never understood why hotel weddings get a bad rap. I assume it's because people feel that they're cookie cutter but I completely disagree. You make your wedding what you want it to be. If you want it to be a standard hotel ballroom wedding then that's fine but if you want to spruce it up a bit and add your own personality (like we did), then go for it.
I've been to weddings at all types of venues and maybe I'm just biased but I thought that ours took the cake. If nothing else, having the ability for our guests to just stumble back their rooms after 5 hours of our open bar and not have to worry about driving anywhere was well worth our venue decision.
@CaitMarae I never thought of it like that... I love the idea of being a celebrity for a weekend. I had a friend who told us stories of crashers at her wedding and that made me more nervous that anything.I do like the personal touches, but overall we want a relatively "cookie cutter" wedding reception. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I've been to a wedding at the Biltmore. It was a friend of FI's from work--so I didn't know the couple very well. It was absolutely gorgeous and I would have loved to have had my wedding there, but my family didn't want to travel to New England. They set up two different ballrooms and transitioned the party.
In order to prevent crashers, they hired two students from Brown to serve as an assistant DOC and a bouncer looking (bulky) man to check guests at the door. It cost them $150 (for both) and they promised them a bonus ($100) if they kept out crashers.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Zebra had her wedding at the Biltmore?

@Carnival_Bride:thanks for the feedback. :). my newest concern is the price right now lol. I was told it was 12K, but when I received the official estimate it was closer to 20K after certain fees. it only makes me sad, because thats more than our original plans for Boston would have cost, and its not like anyone is helping us financially...anyway thank you for the feedback. Its good to know that they offer ways to prevent crashers from coming in though :)
@AnneTossy: These pictures are beautiful. I wonder how it'd look in March =)

Has anyone had a wedding at the Providence, RI biltmore hotel.
I really had my heart set on getting married in Boston, but was unable to because of family members with pets not being able to travel (whole other story...)
I went to take a look at the Biltmore's Grand Ballroom on the 17th floor, and I liked it, but I'm nervous about a hotel wedding/reception. The Ballroom is on the highest floor, but they still have guest rooms up there and I dont want crashers, or people staring at us (if that makes sense).
Anyway if anyone has pictures or has been to a function there and can tell me about it, it would be appreciated.
Also in general, if anyone was married/had their reception in a hotel, and can tell me about their expreriences, it's be great!
Thanks everyone
