Yoooo hoooooooooo.... Grand Rapids girls! I know we're few and far between on the boards :) BUT who did you use for your hotel blocks for OOT guests?

I didn't use them for my wedding blocks, because I am in Kalamazoo...but I love the Amway Grand.  Where will your ceremony/reception take place?

    NE side of town. :)

Amway Grand is going to be out of budget for most of my guests. :) I'm looking more for the lower end - our reception site is in a hotel, so that's our higher end block.

Hmm... you know, I should farm this job out to my mom. She knows the town a lot better than I do!

ETA: ps, Miss Britt, it looks like we'll be working with Valerie too! Thanks so much for recommending her!!

Try using www.HotelPlanner.com. You put in what area, price range, amenities, number of rooms needed, etc. and they send out a request for bids to all the nearby hotels and the hotels respond with their group rate bids.  I used it for the Holland area and it and found it pretty useful.  Hope that helps!

Our reception was at the Amway so we did a block of rooms there.  I was quite surprised at how much they discounted the rooms.  But I am sure it was b/c the reception was being held there.

However, I knew that most of my dad's family would not pay to stay at the Amway.  We did a block at the Days Inn on Pearl Street.  It has been remodeled, the parking is free, and I believe they were bought by another hotel chain.  I am not sure what the price was for the room......I think less than $100 per night.  When I dropped off the OOT gift bags, I was shocked at how nice the lobby was since they renovated.
