Not sure about the price but I went to Berlin a few years ago and stayed at a lovely hotel near the Gendarmenmarkt in the Mitte section of town. Nice and quiet but also close enough to various things and not too far from the U-Bahn. I cannot remember the name but I shall find out and get back to you!

It is also near a chocolate shop Fassbender und Rausch, which, if you like your chocolate, I would definitely recommend a visit to (especially the restaurant even if it is just for a hot chocolate). When I was there someone was carving a Titanic model out of chocolate!

I stayed in Paris for 2 nights in July and after a lot of research chose Hotel le A, I would highly recommend it, it is modern, central, extremely professional service and a lovely breakfast.

I highly recommend Hotel Britannique in Paris. Very charming boutique hotel with an excellent location!

laschai:  They are great! I went to Berlin a couple of years ago and LOVED it. If you’re into history and the Cold War/Berlin Wall era there is so much to see and do. Let me know if you’d like any suggestions. 🙂

laschai:  When I went to Paris, we stayed at Hotel D’argenson. It was inexpensive and right off the Champs Elysées near the Arc De Triumph. It was pretty and a maid delivered breakfast each morning which was nice. The rooms also have balconies. Great location for a great price.
