My package includes 6 hours of coverage. It seems like that should cover all of our wedding. And it's the amount of time our photographer recommended because she thought if we had less time we wouldn't be able to get all the coverage we would want.
I suggest making an outline of your wedding itinerary to determine what you want covered to see how much time you think is necessary for your photographer to be with you. I found that making a timeline of your wedding day really helps visualize your coverage needs.
My photographer is a husband and wife team, I get bothe of them for unlimited coverage. With tax it is $3k
My package included around 7 hours of coverage. This covered us for shots of me getting ready with my bridesmaids, my DH getting ready with his groomsmen, the wedding, pictures after the wedding, and most of the reception. I think our reception ended at 11 PM, and he was there until 10 PM.
I have unlimited coverage which will probably be about 12 -13hours.
I think it all depends on your timelines. For us we need that many hours because our ceremony is at noon and our reception at 5:30, so our coverage will begin around 8:30 to get pics of us getting ready and probably end around 9-10 after dinner is done so they can catch some party pics!
So, if you have a later ceremony you won't need as many hours basically! :)
Ours was 8 hours--our ceremony was at 2PM, and our reception was from 4-8PM, the photog arrived at the hotel where we were getting ready at 12noon, and followed us throughout the day...it worked out perfectly, my hair was just being finished when they got there. I was able to get my makeup done, get dressed and then get a few pics of the girls and I before the ceremony.

I'm beginning to search for a photographer, and I'm finding that hours of coverage tend to vary. Married bees, how many hours of coverage did you have (or how many would you recommend based on your photography experience)? Engaged bees who have already booked photographers, how many hours of coverage does your package include?
