I just got off an email chat with a House of Brides (HOB) representative who completely and utterly infuriated me! Unbeknowst to myself, two of my bridesmaids ordered their dresses together last week, leaving the third one to order hers herself. So I placed my order for her dress over the weekend with a note asking if the dresses can be cut from the same fabric dye lot to ensure that the color of all three dresses look the same. I tried calling HOB’s 1800 number on Monday to talk to someone about this but wasn’t able to get through to a customer service rep so I tried again on Tuesday and today. Each time, I was placed on hold and I waited patiently for 10 minutes each time but never spoke to a human being. When I tried to leave a callback number, it would repeat back the incorrect number and hang up on me. When I tried to leave a message, the system told me that the mailbox is full. I tried calling the 650 order status number but that just routed me back to the 1800 number (which tells you to call the 650 number for order status). Then I got an email stating that the first two dresses had already been processed, the third dress would not be cut from the same dye lot, and that the order was on hold until I gave approval to proceed. I went to the HOB website and was finally able to get a hold of someone via their chat. Except the customer service rep was rude, unhelpful, and mean–when I told her of my troubles with calling in, she pretty much ignored me and just kept asking ‘What can I assist you with?’ When I told her of the dress situation, she basically said that there’s nothing that she could do and that my order had already been processed. She didn’t even know my order number! When I told her about the email, she blamed me for not telling her about it first and then kept repeating that it was my decision on what I wanted to do. When I asked to speak to her manager, she told me that there’s no direct way to contact her manager and that if I wanted to speak to a manager that I would have to write a letter. I’m so mad I’m near tears! I know it’s my fault for not making sure the dresses got ordered together but I’m upset that a customer service person would be so mean! I had read good things abot HOB on weddingbee which is why I decided to use them but I didn’t realize how bad their customer service is! Just wanted to let all the Beehive know about my experience before anyone else decides to use them.

I am so sorry that you’ve had such a terrible experience with them. I definitely read mixed reviews on HOB. I decided to go with Pearl’s Place (best price for the dresses we picked, by far). The dresses should be in, in about a month, I am crossing my fingers that everything will go smoothly. I think someone else posted something about the dye lots and generally they’re not that far off. I think they worked in the fashion industry or something like that, but they didn’t seem to worried about colors being noticeably different. So you’ll probably be ok… I hope. Good luck!!

I haven’t dealt with HOB, but if it is any consolation, a friend of mine had something similar happen with her bridesmaids where one girl didn’t order her dress in time and it came from a different dye lot. (I don’t know who she ordered from). But in the end the dresses all came out the same and it was OK. I don’t know what kind of fabric it was, but it is likely that yours will be fine too.

Aww, that does suck. Theyre definitely not known for customer service which is why their prices are so good. you definitely cant have your cake and eat it too unfortunately.
As for your bridesmaids ordering without your other bridesmaid…I think I’d be more upset with them and not with House of Brides…Why did they do that? BM dresses are always ordered all at the same time to ensure that the dresses are cut from the same bolt of fabric.

OMG what a horrid thing! I’m a vengeful gal so I’d be blasting their name to anyone who would listen and write a strongly worded letter as well as calling BBB just to make sure the mark of "crap-tastic servive" is noted for all to see.
But thats me…lol – like I said I’m vengeful when it comes to poor CS! I was retail management for years and I find it totally not tollorable because of the standard I help my employees to.
Hang in there. Vent all you want, it will help.

Yeah, sorry I heard back things about house of brides too. I’ve been telling my friends to use it just to compare prices. But to order from netbride.com or rkbridal instead. That sucks.
But if it’ll make you feel better I don’t think you’ll really notice the difference in color. Not unless you’re looking really hard and the fabric is right on top of the other. I let my friends pick different designs, they all ordered from different stores, even one from a completely different designer. But from all appearances they were wearing the same color!
