A tray of homemade food that’s frozen/freezes well!  Like a tray of lasagna, shepherds pie, some kind of pasta casserole, etc, so he’ll have real food while he unpacks/gets everything set up. And a card. 🙂

You could always do a gift card to Home Depot or Lowes. Or maybe artwork for the walls? That might be tough if you don’t know his style well, but Home Goods has great stuff.

A bottle of his favorite alcohol? A Home Depot gift card? A grocery gift card? Something cool to hang on his wall (depending on what he likes — something sports-related, music-related, etc)? Have fun!

I would get him a home depot giftcard thats what I always get friends for housewarming parties though. When you have a home there is always something you need!

Home Depot or Lowe’s is always a good call, or maybe a gift card to a local takeout place.

I’d do a bottle of whiskey and a set of crystal tumblers. The Tiffany plaid ones are phenom for whiskey, but I think Ralph Lauren makes a cheaper set.

Tabletop games! Like Cards Against Humanity, Settlers of Catan, Fluxx, Apples to Apples, Scrabble, or Trivial Pursuit.

They’re bound to make memories at his new home.

We recently got my fiance’s friend a Star Trek Enterprise pizza cutter. He LOVED it. I picked it out because I knew he likes the show, and my fiancé has no idea about it at all. So I was pretty proud!

When I moved out of my first apartment, I knew 2 guys were moving in who never had an apartment before, so we left them a gift basket of cleaning supplies figuring that most men don’t think about that stuff.  We left a new toilet brush, plunger, some toilet bowl cleaner, antibacterial wipes, Clorox, Fantastic,  Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, etc.  It was really cheap and I heard from the landlord that they were really grateful.

You could also just go easy and get him a 6-pack, chips, dip, salsa, and pepperoni.  He’ll be happy!
