How do you stay on top of it all? Working 40 hours a week and spending quality time with the FH how do you manage to keep your house clean?
Do you have a schedule (ie; clean the bathroom on Saturdays etc..) or do you just not care and do it when the mood strikes? I’m trying to figure out how to keep my house tidy and neat, I always feel like it’s a disaster.

I used to do it all on one weekend day but now that I have a child, I do a little every day to stay on top of everything.

@MsGinkgo: I really don’t fit any of those.
We don’t have a cleaning routine (once a week, something every day etc.) But every now and then when Im at home (I work 3 hour shifts in the afternoons) I just decide to go all out and do a hunk of whatever I feel like. Sometimes I only do one or two things, other times Ill spend hours cleaning up!
We also do basic stuff (dishes, wiping the benches, cleaning off tables, washing) all the time in bits and pieces.
However, I would never say “I never feel like my house is clean” because we do keep it tidy.

My place is very small (I live in an apartment) but I plan to do the same thing I do now at my future places. I am a neat freak in that I always do my dishes immediately, pick up anything that is on the ground, and have all my stuff organized. I however am NOT a neat freak when it comes to vacuuming, bathrooms, etc. Whenever I feel like it (usually 1-2 times/month) I just take the time to do all the vacuuming and bathroom.

I am in school/ work from 6AM till midnight during the week so things just get done on the go. Then during the weekend have to deap clean everything so it stays clean

@MsGinkgo: I do a little bit every day, I’ve found it’s much easier that way and my house is constantly clean because I’m not waiting until cleaning day to do it. If the house needs to be vacuumed two days in a row, I do it.

I clean every day, and deep clean on weekends. Our apt still never feels clean lol. He works 80+ hours a week, I work and go to school, so things get pretty chaotic!

@MsGinkgo: I spend a lot of time Saturdays and Sundays cleaning and will pick up or wipe down small things here and there during the week. We tried a schedule and it was too insane.

Our house is never really clean. DH cleans more than I do, thank goodness for him!!!!!!!

I don’t fit into any of these. I just kind of clean when I feel like it but at the same time I don’t feel as though my apartment is “never clean.” If a certain area needs to be cleaned I clean it. Sometimes I will continue cleaning the rest of the apartment and sometimes I just clean that one area. It really depends on what my schedule is like.

I really only clean on the weekend – except for daily things like wiping down kitchen counters and doing dishes. But I don’t do absolutely everything in one go. I rotate. So one weekend I will sweep and vacuum, and the next I will clean the bathroom and deep clean the kitchen, etc. It doesn’t get overwhelming really, but I do live in a tiny one bedroom apartment.

I tidy up throughout the week but we do most of the housekeeping on the weekends.

I neither have a schedule nor do I do it all in one day. When I notice there’s crud on the countertops, I’ll whip out the lysol spray and wipe it all down, when I notice toothpaste spatter on the bathroom counter/mirror, I’ll address that, if I think that “hm, it’s been a while since I vacuumed” I will vacuum. I do not generally consider my house to be unclean, though.

I do big cleaning on weekends-laundry, changing sheets, vacuuming, kitchen, etc. little stuff as needed during week-taking out trash, dishes. We eat out a lot and with just 2 of us, we don’t make many dishes, so I don’t do those everyday. But i don’t have a dishwasher! We just aren’t messy enough to need major daily cleaning.

I do a little bit every day. I do a full house scrubbing where everything gets cleaned the day before my husband comes home from a deployment.
