Any Houston brides interested in a meet-up?
Heck yes!!! I've been waiting for something like this!!! :]
Sure, if I'm available. When/where were you thinking?
Also - how do we get the word out there for it? There were 2 in 2009, but 3 people went to the first one, and 2 to the second one. I don't know if it was because people didn't know or if Houston just wasn't very active at the time.
You ladies should live it up at Cafe Lux across from the Galleria. Weather is finally cooperating.
I'm not sure how to get the word out. I'm not sure about where anyone is in the city but probably a central location on a week night.
What are your thoughts girls?
Depending on who you want coming- you can maybe post something on Chronicle online in their social/wedding section. Pick a place and bump this post a few times before you get together... it will be fun if just a few of you show up.
I'm off of 290 and the Beltway, but I'm willing to head downtown or where ever. Maybe somewhere like Onion Creek in the Heights?
I'm outside of Houston. So it would be about a 45 minute drive into the city for me. I'm off of I-45 and Hwy-105.
Yep, last time it was just stine & me @ Onion Creek . . . we had a nice time. Now I'm getting closer and it's way different! Depending on where/when I'll try.
Let's leave this tread going and try for something in a couple of week? I'll look into the chronicle and the wedding section.
Until then, lets get to know each other. When is your date? Theme? Size? and anything else you want to share!
My FI and I are getting married on November 13, 2010 in Winter Park, CO. We wanted it to be very small so we figured a destination wedding would be the right thing to do. We are actually getting married at the same location that Mrs. Cowboy Boot did. I found weddingbee when I was googling pictures of the site.
I am going dress shopping next weekend so wish me luck! Any recommendations on dress shops? I have appts at Venturas and Misora. I have previously been to Weddings by Debbie (which I really liked), Alfred Angelo (didn't like my consultant), and Priscilla of Boston (felt the dresses weren't worth the price tags).
We're planning on inviting about 250 people . . . the reception venue holds 250 if packed in (plated dinner, no dance). So, we're hoping for unde 200 to show up. Most of the guests are my relatives--mostly from out of state. Small wedding party (MOH and BM with FG & RB).
Got my dress way early on.
My sister bought her dress at Debbie's (I enjoyed by experience there.) My Ventura's experience was ok, but I didn't like any of their dresses. If I did it over again, I probably would have tried things on at Marry Go Round--a consignment shop that has tons of samples in all different sizes. The prices were pretty good. I've been intrigued by Now & Forever (drive by it all the time), but since I already have my dress . . . .
@des salazar - Check out Brickhouse Bridal in the Woodlands. I thought they had a nice selection of dresses, although I don't think they have the best prices in Houston (my favorite gown in my budget at Brickhouse was $250 less at Venturas), so definitely price shop if you find something there that you like. If you're considering used gowns, check out Merry Go Round. I have a friend who got a great deal on a Reem Acra, although I didn't have any luck there. Good luck and have fun!
I would LOVE to meet up with people! I'm outside of Houston as well, so it would be a drive for me too. I'm orginally from Vegas, so we are having a super small wedding there. I moved here about two years ago and don't have any friends here hence why we aren't doing anything here.
I actually went to Marry Go Round to peek around one day during lunch and didn't see anything that was my style but I may go back since their inventory changes all the time. I went to Now & Forever to look at bridesmaid dresses one day and let me tell you they have some beautiful dresses! Just not really my style. I want a simple dress.
I just went to look at the chron to see if you can post something but I didn't anywhere that I could post it. I wonder if anyone would see it on craigslist?
I think the best bet on announcing a Houston meet up would be to get a post up on the WB blog. I think a hostess or Mrs. Penguin can help get that done once a date and location are picked. Or possibly Miss Chick (although she hasn't been actively posting lately...)?
@des salazar - have you gont to Mia? I'm not that much help b/c I ended up getting mine @ Brides against Breast Cancer. My sister considered Bridal Depot where they have Impressions dresses.
We're having ~125 people at the Parador in April. Can't wait! We've got all the major stuff done, now down to finalizing stuff. I bought my dress at Ventura's and was extremely happy with my purchase and my consultant - until she went on maternity leave and hasn't come back. She was great, but the remainder of the service I've had has been lack-luster. Maybe because they didn't make the commission, they don't feel they need to give me great service? One of my BMs bought her dress at Weddings by Debbie a few years ago and had a great experience.
Hey ladies!
I would love to meet with everyone... my schedule is funky, so I'll do my best to come down and meet in person. For now: My FH and I are getting married in Southern California on July 24th of this year. We chose California because that's where I was born and raised and because my family still lives there. Our guest list as of right now is at about 320, but we're thinking probably around 200 people or so will show up. We're getting married at an art museum and our "theme" is all different shades of purple with a splash of green and zebra print! I know, sounds like a weird combination, but it actually goes really well together! We're just a fun-loving couple!! I think I'm most excited about my dress and our mad hatter cake ;]
I hope to meet up with you all in person!!!
I sent Miss Chick a message. Please post the best days/time that would work for you so we can try to accomodate the most people that we can!
Miss Chick has gratiously agreed to post about a meet-up. We just need a time and location!
That would be wonderful!! I would love a meet up :)
I'm in Humble, TX
Hello Houston bees! I just joined and would love to meet up :-) I'm located in Pearland but am willing to drive wherever - will be on the lookout for an announcement!
I'm up for a meet! Live in Spring, work in Galleria, so whereever is fine with me
Count me in, I'm in Houston, can we avoid Saturdays though, I work on Saturdays. politicaljewel@yahoo.com....
I would love to participate if you have anything in mid to late July - I am moving to Houston from NH (yes...New Hampshire) in a few weeks and will literally know NOBODY except my fiance (and his mom sister and stepdad who I have met once for a few days)!!! Message me :)
okay ladies!! whens this meet? im so down!!! beach? hehe i wish i know thats far for some ppl.
we should do a lunch and meet up at a park to swap notes or something
I don't think we've ever gotten together. It's been put out there, but never really planned! I'm still down to meet up! I'm getting busier though, now that the wedding is 6 weeks away!!
Well this stinks, if we wait for TXNHBRIDE Miss Chocolate will already be a MRS. lol. Miss Chocolate - are you looking for fellowship or do you need the meet-up to help with last-minute planning? Would it matter to you if we waited for TXNHBRIDE?
EV
So someone should just put a time and place out there and we'll see when the best time is, and location for everybody. Maybe June 27th, downtown Houston??
ill need to get back with you personally just need to see my schedule at work that day. but im down!
No need to wait for me we can always do more than one! Thank you for thinking of me though :o)
I can do june 27th. . .
But it might be too soon if we want Miss Chick to post about it and invite others to come. . . .
why is it so hard to set it up?? lol
How about:
Farrago (midtown, with a parking garage next to it) on a Thursday (used to be Happy Hour ALL DAY)
July 29th?
Hopefully that'll give you ladies some time to think/respond!!!
Seriously - I will send you all a message to get a general response if I have to :) :::bump:::
