wow, you're looking pretty early! i started looking a year out and ive learned alot of vendors such as photography and videography want you to put a deposit and hold a date so they wont really give you too much attention right now. But, i found a photographer on craigslist that did my engagement photos for free. they were really nice out of the 116 or so i kept about 70. it depends on your budget. i havent officially booked my wedding photographer yet, i will be doing so next month, but i do have about 5-10 that are good possibles!
Another pointer about wedding planning and looking way ahead of time is that you will be on a roll of searching and then for about a month or two you kind of stray away from it and forget who you have contacted and received quotes from. So be well organized with your search!!
Oh my gosh. Kelli Nicole! She was awesome. I can't recommend her enough! We didn't do engagements, but she did our wedding and my bridals and was just wonderful. She did Mrs. Avocado's photos (if you want to look in the Weddingbee archives), or PM me and I can send you my blog link (where there are TONS of our pro photos). Or I have some of them in my Weddingbee bio!

We are using Studio Capture- they did our engagement photos too and they were amazing! David Bley is the photographer we are using-- he is great and really easy to work with. We ended up hearing about them through a friend of ours who used them at their wedding last year--- their pics were awesome. Hope this helps :)

We used Wischkaemper Photography and, although I may be biased b/c I picked him up before he got into wedding (I loved his "eye"), I absolutely LOVE ALL of our photos!
He's "in" Victoria, but I'm sure he'd travel =)

And as far as I know he's pretty reasonably priced (we were his first so we had leverage in expanding his portfolio)... I didn't get alot of detail shots b/c also kinda forgot to clarify that I wanted them =/ and missed the "dress" shot b/c well I was running late. lol Otherwise we got so many photos that we just love so much & I am SO happy I didn't go with someone else =) OH and he is SO MUCH fun! (again I may be biased b/c we're friends from church. lol)
ETA: There is also the guy that was our "2nd shooter" James Taylor (he came with our photographer but also does his own stuff) Also alot of fun and loved his eye & style.
Both of these guys were great! I swear I don't even know where the heck they were all day b/c they were there and got the shots =)
MiaBella Photography is the best. We did our engagement photos in November and they were so much fun to work with. The photos came out so much better than I hoped. And they were really affordable.

@MissTX: Great thread! I was thinking about posting one similar asking for recommendations on photographers in the Houston area.
If not fomr Weddingbee and the ladies on here keeping me sane, I would have probably eloped already.

Hi Ladies,
This is to all my Houston and surrounding areas couples. Who did you use for photography?? Whether you've only done Engagements or the whole shebang, is there anyone you could recommend?? I am trying to get as many ducks in a row so I will be prepared on what we need to save etc. I am open to doing my engagements in SAN ANTONIO where we live but thinking that it would be good to have just ONE photographer dealing with us through this whole process. Any input is soooo greatly appreciated! I don't know what the heck I'd do without the BEE and all of you ladies with your infinite wisdom and experience ;)
