@bRooklynRocks:Well hi-ya!! Yes it is quiet. Looks like there was lots of cahtting and meet ups months ago in our local board, but not much here recently. Thought I'd start a post for us all to say hello!!!

i'm a houston bride for now.. but i'm having the wedding in austin and i'm moving to austin next month as well so not totally a houston bride exactly.... haha

How are you ladies coming in your planning?
Um, well, as a July bride I ought to have things in gear but honestly, my inner laziness wouldn't let me. I just got my DOC today and need to get a dress, officiant etc. Ouch!
FI and i are done planning for our march wedding just waiting on my dress and paying everyone off
@ManciasToBe:I moved back here to Houston after being in Dallas for 9 years to "close the gap" on FI and I's long distance relationship. Are you excited about going to Austin?
@McVerde: Well, I just changed my Jamaican destination wedding to a local Houston one so I'm like at square one. I have colors and a "vision" and have appointments to look at places at the beginning of next week. We are certainly going to be nailing things down now that the holidays are over. What do you have so far?
So Houston brides...who are your venues?!?! Are they reasonably priced?
I live in Houston, but I'm getting married in Destin... can I still contribute? :-P (I'm also a Katie - does that help? lol)

@katieebee: Sweetwater in Sugarland and girl, let me tell you, I visited a lot of places and did so much price comparisons, I was about to bolt! Anyhow, good luck with your planning.
Hey girls - I am sort of a Houston bride - I live here but I am getting married in New Hampshire where I lived until this past summer! I would love to get to know some local girls since my fiance and 4 year old step son are the only people I know here! So far I have my dress, venue, officiant (my uncle) and flowers picked out but nothing booked haha
@bRooklynRocks:Oh I love Sweetwater! I so wish I could have it there but it's a bit far from us and most of our guests. We're up here in Spring...The Woodlands, etc. I have 3/4 of our wedding planned without a VENUE!! LOL. I know, a place to actually HAVE the wedding would be nice. LOL. Definitely will be nailing that down within the next week or so. We have to make a final decisioin on that for sure.
@TXNHBride: I just moved here this past summer too! But I grew up here and moved to Dallas/Ft. Worth for about 9 years and am now back. My has it CHANGED!!! Pleased to meet you!

@katieebee: Have you checked out Chateau Polonez? I heard somewhere that's it's actually pretty reasonably priced, and it looks gorgeous on the website. They're having an open house Feb 2nd.
@katieebee: I'm from the The Woodlands but live in VA now. Are you getting married in a church or looking for a venue to hose the reception and ceremony? There's of course the standard Woodlands Resort, Marriott town center, the new Avia Hotel on Market Street. There's a cool venue with a lot of options in Spring but I'm totally blank on the name, sorry. Lake Conroe has a few country clubs and venues... A lot depends on what kind of "feel" you're going for....
@KLP2010:Good info. Congrats on your wedding BTW. Did you have it here or in VA?
@KLP2010: Oh, I didn't know that you are a Houstonian. I thought you were originally from Virginia!!
@bRooklynRocks: Oh heck no! I've only been here in VA 4.5 years! In fact, for my birthday this weekend we smoked a brisket and went for dessert to Carrabba's (a Houston started chain :) for Blue Bell ice cream! I'm a born and bred Texan through and through! :) My parents just moved back to The Woodlands from overseas so I do come back a few times a year.
Katiebee: Wedding was here in Va :( All our friends are here and both our ext. families are in NY. It wouldn't have made sense to make everyone but 10 people travel to Texas.... :(
@katieebee: Aww FI and i are long distance as well he's from austin before moving to houston i lived in chicago
Just found out that there even was a Houston section in WB...this is exciting!
