Hello,
I am an avid salsa dancer, and I would definitely recommend changing into a more comfortable, shorter dress for your reception. Dancing salsa or any other type of fast-paced dancing won't be near as fun in a bulky, long, dress. Even though it is beautiful!!
Nikole
you could wear a single hooped skirt underneath, just to keep it away from your legs.
I wore a dress very similar shape to yours, I wish I had changed into my lighter dress. By the end of the night it was getting very heavy and was very difficult to dance in. I will not make that mistake for our vow renewal, I am changing as soon as pics are over.
I wore a dress that was huge and had a corset tope and it was fitted well so it was really comfortable and I didnt have to wear any undergarments besides regular underoo's :) I danced around like an idiot all night long and loved it! It was great to wear my big poufy dress! That said my dancing is more enthusiastic than technical and I can see wanting to show off those legs if u salsa or tango :)

I had a very big bustle and was able to do my dances well.
A tango though requires soo much leg movement though... I can't imagine kicking the dress all night to do a tango
I think you could do a tango, you just wouldn't be able to do anything extremely fancy (ganchos and boleos would be out!). The corset actually would help with your posture and frame; I would be more concerned by the skirt.
I think pretty much any dance outside of the ballroom "group" of dances would have to alter a bit to accomodate a long ballgown.
If there's one thing I would have done if I had more money, it would be to buy a shorter, lighter reception dress. I made my playlist with the full intention to DANCE all night long, but I was suffocating 3 songs in.
I also wanted to add that your seamstress might be able to do pick-ups in the front of your dress (basically bustle it into a high-low style). Maybe not the organza-ruffled gown pictured by the OP, but other gowns might be able to be altered in that way to accommodate the first dance.

Forgive me if Im posting in the wrong board, I wasn't sure if this belongs in the dance or dress board.
Anyways! I am trying to decide if I want to get a softer, more comfortable short dress because I imagine when the dancing starts it will be waaaaaay more comfortable. However, we had tried some corset tops and the fiance loved me in them so I was wondering if maybe I should get one and pair it with a skirt. But I also love my wedding dress... I just really worry the long skirt and very blingy top will feel restrictive when I am trying to enjoy moving & grooving.
I love to salsa, the FI and I will have a couple of tangos, some good old fashion rock&roll, the twist, modern pop songs, lots of eclectic music and lots of movement.
Any thoughts? Experiences with changing to a soft short dress for reception? Recommended? Experiences with corset tops and dancing? Was your lovely long wedding dress just fine throughout the night grooving?
I am not concerned about my shoes. I am getting 2 pairs custom made, one with 2 or 2.5 inch heel (I love heels) and one flat (or tiny unnoticable heel) so I will be able to switch depending on how my feet feel :)
FYI, my wedding dress is:
