For all of you planning on switching dresses to make it easier to dance/sit/not melt to death… when will you make the switch?
I have a big ballgowny pick-up skirt that I’m making detachable from the corset bodice ((attached by velcro or something)) and then wearing a knee length skirt for the rest of the night.
I want to do the first dance shortly after our entrance to the reception site, so I’ll wear the big skirt for that… but then how and when do I change and make a grand reentrance…
After dinner? After the first dance?
I had this scheme in mind of getting one of the B.M.s to “accidently” step on the skirt and have it rip off in the middle of the dance floor ::insert record scratching sound, and mortified looks on guests faces:: only to surprise everyone by stepping out of the skirt with a new cute skirt already underneath! But that seems a little over dramatic haha.
Any more sane ideas on how to make the switch?

Are you doing your grand entrance/first dance before dinner or after?
I too have a second dress and am doing a choreographed crazy first dance so I am saving the first dance for AFTER dinner so I spend more time in my first dress then before our first dance go out and have another BIG entrence that leads into the first dance and BAM already in my second dress– seriously thought! I love the idea of the dress ripping off to reveal the shorter one!!!! all about the dramatic effect!

I was thinking before dinner.. right when we first get introduced as husband and wife but now I’m leaning towards after dinner so i can spend more time in my first dress (it will be a shame to just wear it for 2 hours)
So after our first dance I’ll leave and come back in a different look…. It’s an awkward transition for me… hmmm….

I LOVE the idea of it just ripping off on the dance floor!
We’re having an after party thing after the food and mingling, it’s at another location so i’d probably change before i got to the after party!

Lol, the dress ripping is a cute idea^^
I’ve also heard ideas where the bride and groom get a ‘minute’ alone in the next room, to have a glass and take a breath before the reception to say ‘Yay’, then you can kick the Mr. out, change and go onto the reception.
