I think our combination for fun is a) great people (a lot of young people too), b) open bar and c) great music. I have the advantage of the fact that a lot of our friends treat weddings as a great time for everyone to get togteher and hang out, so they make their own fun, but b & c are definitely integral to that experience!
Hello! I agree with caulner; I'm using the same formula (a+b+c). In fact, my cousin called me the other day asking whether her little kids would be invited to the reception. I told her that I'd love to see them, but gave her a heads up on the "formula." =) Hope it works!
We're having a dance off and giving away a small trophy. We're also having an outdoor lounge area that looks totally different than the rest of the wedding.
I agree music, fun people, and of course alittle booze always helps.
So we didn't serve alcohol and none of our guests were dancers, so we went a little different route. We kept the ceremony short then had our videographer play our love story after the meal (had the entire room laughing) and a caricature artist that people flocked too. The biggest thing I hear is to keep the fun going and to not have a lull.

Hi there:
I'm having my wedding in August and I'm afraid people are going to get bored. I know having a great party depends on the people... and we have the people... I just want to know what all you other brides plan on doing to give your party that extra something.
