I met my fiance at the University of Arizona so it holds a very special place in our hearts. We want to incorporate it tastefully in the wedding, without overdoing it. I love to hear other ideas how to incorporate it in weddings.

    We are doing:

    1. University of Arizona groom cake. We are going to have saguaro cactus around the bottom of it and the Arizona logo on top. I think I am more excited for this cake than the actual wedding cake!!

    2. I made a childrens coloring book for our wedding using templates from other brides in which the kids can color the Arizona logo.

    3. We wanted to take our engagement pictures on the beautiful campus.

We have a two mascots - Wilbur and Wilma and they were married in the 1980's and renewed their vows a couple of years ago. :-) So I am going to incorporate the picture of them getting married on the football field somehow.

    Other ideas:

On of our friends were introduced for their wedding to the school song, Bear Down. Name the tables after things affiliated with the University. School garter.

I love to hear new ideas. How are you using your favorite university in your wedding?

but, we are coming full circle - we are actually getting married at the chapel on-campus!!!

my friend and her FI took pictures of their favorite places on campus holding numbers and used those as table numbers. They put the pictures in "UI" silver frames. (University of Indiana frames with the school emblem on them ) it looked cute yet still elegant.

We're actually from rival (I guess not big rivals, but somewhat) ACC schools -- Boston College and Virginia Tech ..... so we're doing a few things throughout the night - playing our fight songs, taking big group photos, I'll probably do a garter for his school ... my SIL (a bridesmaid) is also desperately trying to get the BC Eagle and the Hokie Bird to do appearances at the wedding!!  The Eagle would be easier since the wedding is in Boston, but she actually has contacted the person who is the Hokie Bird!  Too funny!

We met at college too - and a good 80% of our wedding party is from college too. Not sure how we're going to incorporate it yet but I'm thinking table naming provides an ideal opportunity - or maybe a signature drink!

I was originally going to do a VERY CUTE yellow and black theme in honor of my team!  That fell through only because most of my theme centered around sunflowers and FI...well he doesn't like sunflowers.

@KRISSYBEE-I think that is such a fun idea!

My FI and I both graduated from Iowa State University and he is the 18th person to graduate from there, when we are married I will be the 19th ( I have already graduated but cannot be counted yet-family rules)  I am going to do a grooms cake for him in the shape of ISU's logo and then something else fun.  Possibly a ISU garter to wear.  I think he would like that :)

I'm so glad this thread was started!

I told my FI he could pick our wedding colors:  He chose red and white, almost immediately...because he's from Nebraska (and a huge Huskers fan) and I did undergrad at the University of Wisconsin (and will tell anyone who will listen to me for more than 5 seconds Madison is hte greatest place on earth).  We have since added charcoal.

We keep talking about other ways to incorporate the schools in the wedding, but haven't really decided on anything yet.  I'm sure we'll end up using the responses on this thread for inspiration though!

My husband and I are Big 10 rivals.  He (and his 2 brothers) went to Penn State.  I went to Wisconsin.  Since my college roommate was a bridesmaid and there were a few other alumni, I asked our DJ to play "Varsity"....  we all sang!  It was great!   (Too bad Penn State doesn't have a cool song...)

@amandaR   Yay for Wisconsin!!  I agree that Madison is the greatest place on earth!  U-Rah-rah!!

We had a science geek/school themed wedding since we met in university, plus we took most of our photos on campus.

I'm going to do a grooms' cake with the emblem of his college or fraternity on it in fondant and have zooming across it, a guy in a red jeep cherokee with tracks behind it! The dude from the cake show on tv (food network I think) did an awesome grooms' cake with a red jeep on it off-roading recently!  Or do the off-road cake with his initials as the license plate on the back of the jeep.

We are getting married at FI's undergraduate institution (USMA).  Thus, we will be surrounded by flags and seals and such for his school.  Some of the guests have promised/ threatened to do a SoCal spell-out just so that my school is not forgotten.  I think we may also enter the reception to the 'SC fight song (a bit of a surprise for my FI).  We are both currently in graduate/ professional school, but we are not doing anything to acknowledge those schools because they are rather small private schools and we identify more with our undergraduate teams.

We met at the University of Michigan and both our wedding ceremony and reception are on campus.  We're also taking pictures on campus.  Our table names are going to be different campus buildings, with vintage photos of the building.  My fiance is hoping we can get the string duo to play the fight song after we are announced husband and wife, but I don't know if we're going to do it.  At least we will play it when we announce our bridal party at the reception.

I am also looking into a surprise present for him--getting some of the Michigan Marching Band members to play at the start of the reception.  Not sure if I'll be able to swing it, though, because school won't be in session.

Oh, and my "something blue" is Michigan garter!  Go Blue!

We're both graduates of CAL so we took our bridal party pictures on the campus. The nice architecture really helped. :)

Themed garter- I originally didn't want any garter at all, but once I saw the Mizzou one, I had to have it! Also, part of FI's present is a watch with the MU logo on it.

My FI went to Villanova...he said if they win the championship game he wants to walk down the aisle to the fight song.  I said no way (its to circusy/school band), but we might do the recessional to it or even as the grand entrance.

We're both Penn Staters who met up there.  We're going whole hog and having a mini-destination wedding on campus.  Our theme is a wedding at Penn State, not a Penn State wedding. For us, it's not about school spirit (although we have oodles of it :) ), it's about introducing our family and friends to our second home!

We're going the group photos and have forbidden the DJ from playing any other fight songs than our two respective school songs.  I'm debating having a small Longhorn's pin added to his flower or surprising him with a Texas garter.  We'll be having some tasty Toomer's Lemonade from Auburn for the non-drinkers during cocktail hour.  So small things that people might not even realize but are note-worthy to us.

My FI and I met at Columbia University so in honor of that, all of our tables will be named after locations on campus that were signifiant to us!  And there will be a picture of us at each location.

Go Wisconsin!!  We also met in college, and Mrs. Pomegranate and amandaR are both right that Madison is the best place on earth.

So, we're playing Varsity as our second to last song (my FI's grandparents also met at UW so we're dedicating the song to them; and their anniversary is the day after ours, so it will also be in honor of their anniversary -- it'll be close enough to midnight) and for our last song -- Jump Around!

    U-RAH-RAH!

FI and I met at the University of Kansas, and most of our wedding party is from KU, too.  I think we might do a little Jayhawk bride & groom cake topper, and maybe do a KU themed grooms cake.  Will be doing a KU garter, too!  My dad wants to have a Jayhawk ice sculpture, and hire the mascot to show up at the reception... haha, I think that's a bit over the top, though! :)

my FH and I went to rival schools (Notre Dame and Pitt), so I'm guessing any college touches will be pretty subtle to play fair.  Right now, I'm thinking of doing three garters, if that doesn't end up driving me nuts... one for tossing, and then one for each of our schools.  Either that, or I'd love to get a rivals one like a few I've seen on etsy that have half in one school's colors and half in the other.

I also saw in a wedding magazine that one bride put the wait staff and bartenders at the reception in hats for their respective colleges, which might be a cool touch.
