How are your SO's eating/fitness habits?

The recent question about "diet downfall foods" got a few people talking about their SOs' ability to eat anything and never gain weight.  Can/does your SO eat this way? Or does he/she eat more healthfully? Does he/she work out?

My FI sometimes talks about wanting to improve his eating habits, but I think he does remarkably well in comparison to some men I know.  He hates salt (I'm serious -- the man buys salt-free tortilla chips), doesn't eat much sugary stuff, eats at least two pieces of fruit every day, and likes vegetables (my previous bf ate no vegetables whatsoever).  He also rides his bike to and from work every day, even in rain and snow (he hates public trans).

How does your SO fare with food and fitness?

My SO doesn't fare so well, lol! He's a big fella...6'5 260. So he consumes monstrous portions of food. And for a while, without even knowing,  my plate was looking like his.  So I had to do some major portion control. He hates sweets, loves all veggies, eats cheese like it's his job, is a definite meat and potatoes man...not to mention a lover of miller light.  If there's no meat with the meal, ie pasta, then 30 minutes after he eats dinner he's rummaging around looking for something else.  As far as exercising goes..nothing. I've tried to get him to go walk with me but he always has an excuse. When it's warm we go play tennis. I feel like if he had better habits then mine would be better as well.  It's so frustrating because I feel like I need someone to motivate me to go work out and all of my close friends live over an hour away.

My boyfriend is one of those gawdawful people who can eat whatever he wants...i.e. 2  orders of 20-piece chicken mcnuggets, 2 cheeseburgers & fries....and not gain an ounce.....bleh....the only time he eats veggies is when he makes tacos & cuts up fresh lettuce & tomato to put in them...he has an EXTREMELY physically-demanding (and dangerous) job so it's basically like he spends 8 hours a day working out...he's got the washboard abs to prove it....but I love him anyways...LOL

My FI has no desire to eat healthy or work out, and he is constantly buying cookies, chicken nuggets, ice cream, etc.  The one thing he does do/like that's healthy are vegetables (which I hate, haha).  I wish he wanted to eat better and work out, just so I'd have a partner in crime and then I can just have healthy food in the house.

My FH has the worst eating habits on the planet!  He's to blame (at least partially) for the 15 pounds I need to lose.  We have a treadmill and try to use it but that's as far as we've taken it.  He's a former athlete but getting older (we're both 42) and the kids' schedules makes it hard to find the time to work out.  I'm dying for him to lift with me b/c i hate to do it alone but I haven't gotten him to bite yet.  I'm not giving up, he really needs to lose the weight - probably 40 - 50 pounds - his health depends on it!

I was going to post a request for a diet to follow for him.  He'll eat pretty much anything I put in front of him!

MsAnnaLytical    March 13, 2010   Orlando, FL--finally with my FI!

My FI has self-control to be envied. He doesn't drink caffeine in any form, eats candy and sugar sparingly, and religiously eats veggies and protein. He doesn't do a lot of exercise, but he has one of those maddening metabolisms that allows him to stay at 4% body fat all the time. He's never been overweight a day in his life. I, on the other hand, definitely could lose some weight. It would be easier if I could eat with him and just mimic what he does, but sadly, he lives in Orlando, and I'm in Houston. This summer when we finally live together, I will hopefully drop 15 pounds like nothing! I'm crossing my fingers!

Uhg, Mr.D is tall and lean and can eat ANYTHING.  It's so, so, so unfair. I have no idea what his cholesterol or blood pressure is, but he does play soccer as often as he can (usually once/twice) a week. He likes chocolate, all sweets, salty foods and on and on. He hates that no matter what he eats he doesn't gain weight, but I like him the way he is.

Mr. Taffy eats healthy food, but his portions are out of control! He wants to go back for seconds, thirds, etc and just eats way too much. He was working out, but he stops when I stop, and I have been sick lately. He doesn't have a sweet tooth, which I find amazing, but he drinks a lot of beer, which maybe evens it out. ;)

I got my FI 5 sessions with a personal trainer about 2 months ago and he finally had his first session today. It's really hard to motivate him. I know he doesn't have a very good self image, but he is also all excuses: previous knee surgeries, too much school work (he's in grad school), etc. Subsequently his lack of motivation to work out has rubbed off on me. It's all I can do in the morning to get up at 6 am to do yoga, go for a run, or attend a spin class. It doesn't help that he's up til all hours studying and wants to sleep in, which is opposite of what my schedule is like. We generally eat healthy meals b/c I'm doing most of the cooking, but getting him to make a salad is tough.

My fiance is actually a really positive influence on my eating/workout habits.  He has diabetes, so he has to really watch what he eats and his portions.  He also works out pretty much every day, so that keeps me on task.

My fiancee falls on the "horirible eating habits that makes me gain weight side" (so much easier to blame it on him!). When I was single it was so easy to talk myself out of eating unhealthily because it was just me and I didn't want to go out and spend money on just me! But with two of us it's like...yeah! let's order that pizza. We are trying to be better in preparation for the wedding...plus eventually we will have kids that we will force to eat their vegetables so we have to practice our "mmmm, this is yummy!" face.

ES123 - that's us (me) too!  When it was just me I'd go around hungry some of the time, especially before bed.  But it's really hard to not cave when someone ont he couch next to you is eating cookies/nacho chips/whatever!!!
