So this may seem like an odd question and I am sure most of you gals already know how many carats your is, but I honestly don't. When FI proposed I didn't really ask anything about the ring, it's lovely and he put alot of thought into it and did a wonderful job in my opinion so that's all that matters. I have had a few people ask how big it is and I always don't really know what to say nor do I know the true answer. But I am wondering if you can tell what size it is from the picture, I'm just curious.
Thank you!!

You can go to websites and print a print out that will tell you what carat size. I've done that for other rings I was wondering about.
When someone asks you how large your diamond is simply smile, tilt your head and say, "Why do you ask?"
It's also ok to say, "I don't know."
If you feel obligated to answer people ask the person who gave it to you because judging things like that is rather difficult to do via online photo.
Its hard to tell from pictures, your ring size and the cut of the diamond will make a difference. You should find out when you have it appraised/insured.
You should ask your FI. If you get your ring insured, you'll have to provide an appraisal anyway, which would contain the specs on the ring.
I could ask but I don't want to seem rude is all. I guess I'm just wondering how big it looks from the pictures. I uploaded a better picture.
Thank you :)
Hahah thanks Atlanta Bee, you're too cute :) Next time someone asks how big it is I will just say "huge" that will go over well ;)
um, i'd say definitely 1.5-2. If I was betting a specific number i'd say 1.7.
I'm going to say it's at least a 1.5-2. like what the previous girls said.
I agree. Somewhere around a 1.7
This is a fun game. We should play "guess the carat" more often.
I am guessing around 1.5-1.75 as well. It is beautiful!
I'd say right around 1.5, if I had to guess...Only bc mine's 1.3 and my ring size is 5.5 and it looks pretty similar to yours! It's so pretty!!!
I think it looks bigger. Mine's 2.2 and your seems similar in size and I have a round solitaire as well.
Tell your FI everyone is asking you and you don't know what to say! My husband couldn't wait to tell me the size of mine, hee-hee.
Maybe its 1.72 carats. ;)

my guess is somewhere between 1.5 and 2cts.
i was sneaky :p i found the appraisal letter - its not like he was hiding it though. bottom drawer of our dresser.
@Meagan Lindsay: They're being equally rude to ask you. "I don't know. I thought it was a rude thing to ask."
You should ask your FI and just say it's because you want to get it insured - bc you def should. If he hasn't made any move to get it insured are you 100% it's a diamond? I only ask bc it's weird that you don't know the size and that if it is that big that he didn't brag about the size to you and get it insured.
But eitherway - it's gorgeous!
@AltarEgo: Agreed! I haven't had anyone but my 2 best friends ask me how big my diamond is. That's really kind of a rude thing to ask someone.
@Straner: Sounds like a good guess to me :).
I would also say 1.5-2 carats, but judging from your previous post, you might already know the size.
JrzyGrl-Yes, it is diamond, and yes it is insured. He already got it insured before he even proposed to me...
If you wanted to fish for compliments, a simple "Hey I feel like showing my ring off" post would have gotten the job done. You should probably drop the pretense now...
Hello to the recent few ladies who felt the need to post something "snarky" about me and then check my boards. My other post about the 1.72 diamond we were looking at was a while ago before we got engaged. I posted this one simply because I do not know how big the diamond is. I posted here because unlike you I have no pretense was just looking for input from fellow bees.
lol Why would u post this after posting about deciding on a carat size with your FI.... After being called out on it still going along its too funny
I'd say it looks between 1.5 and 2 carats, probably closer to 2. If you want to know, it should be easy to either: 1) ask yoru fiance; 2) look at the certificate; 3) look at the insurance papers.
You can walk into any jewelry store in the mall and ask them for that information.
I dont think i'd be comfortable wearing something that size in public. I'd be afraid someone would chop off my finger!
