@Aubergold: Well ours will be two separate rooms in the church we are getting married in and they are very large. It sounds like you are not getting married in a church so you may not have that option. Maybe you could get a hotel room that has a door in between that you can open and have a larger space for you and your girls. Your FH could get a room on a different floor but since he is a guy he may not need as much space as you :)
We got ready about 30 minutes from our ready and there weren't any problems getting there.
I had initially planned to have all of our prep done in my bridal suite but our venue coordinator felt it would be too small so she moved us to a conference room. I'm so happy she did since there was no way we wold have been able to get our hair and makeup done in my suite. While it was on the larger side, it was super cramped when we all went back there to get dressed so I can't imagine fitting in hair and makeup stations.
We had a bridal suite for staying in and I used it to get ready. The bedroom part was 330sq ft and the parlor part was an additional 600ft with a 2nd bathroom, sofas, huge table, etc. The ladies and I got ready in our suite and the gentlemen just used someone elses regular hotel room.
We have a 2 room suite booked - 1 BR and 1 sitting room - but I'll probably have 10 people with me, at most. What about two rooms side by side?
Our venue has an awesome bridal room, but I think my girls and I will still stay in a couple rooms at a hotel and do the majority of our hair and makeup there and then head over to the venue and use the bridal room for touch-ups, changing into dresses, etc. I'm not sure how big of a hotel room we're looking at, but I've got 6 BM's so I figure we'll get 2 adjoining rooms and just make sure they're not closet-sized so we're not stepping all over each other.
If our venue didn't come with a bridal suite, I'd probably look at spending some decent money for a really comfortable and spacious hotel room, especially considering, as you said, people who will be coming in and out - and if you're doing your pre-game photos there it would be nice not to be cramped.
I'm leaving the boys' arrangements up to FI. Our apartment is also about 30-40 minutes from our venue, so I actually doubt he'd want to stay at the apt - he probably wants to stay somewhere a bit more convenient. But who knows.
We have a suite booked for the night before and night of, not the biggest suite, it's 1 bedroom and a living room, that about 15 people will use and I think we'll be fine. We didn't want to pay for a second room just for him but I want him at the hotel, we live about 30-45 minutes from the venue, so he's just going to stay with his parents in the hotel the night before and the groomsmen will get ready in there the day of.
Great ideas, I didn't even think of getting adjoining rooms, especially for the extra bathroom.
@MissAsB: I dont want FI too far b/c our day will be really tight and I dont want significant travel time factored into the 8 hours we have our photogs for (one of them has to get his getting ready shots)
@MsATC: see I feel like I need like 800sq ft too.
@Aubergold: We did use most of the space. It was myself, MOH, 3 other BMs, 2 moms, 2 makeup artists, 1 photographer, and 2 videographers in the room for hours while we did hair, makeup, nails, and dressing. Plus other people came in and out like the florist, dads, some GMs, etc. And we ended up ordering room service for lunch while we got ready, too. There was stuff everywhere and a lot of people, so I was glad we had the space.

I've started thinking about booking a room to get ready in the day of the wedding. Im not sure if a standard hotel room will work as we will probably have like 25 people going in and out that day. Plus at least 7 of us who will sleep there the night prior.
Did you guys get a suite to get ready in if you venue down't come with a bridal suite? if so, how big? 400-500 sq ft?
Also, did your fiance get a hotel room? Im not sure if I want him to get ready at our apt since it's 40 minutes from the venue.
All this is so much money, sigh.
