I didn't really have an obvious bump, but I was definitely thicker around the middle.
I was 17 weeks at our wedding. Pre-preg I was fitting into a 12 snugly. In the same brand, my dress was a 16 without any alterations. My boobs were bigger and waist was thicker and also had an a-line dress.
I will say it was a guessing game though! Good luck!
Everyone is just so different it is hard to say! At 17 weeks, my body was very different than pre-pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy, I had a 6 pack for abs and at 17 weeks pregnant had a noticeable bump and was in maternity clothing. But I'm pretty short and petite. I would say order your dress a few sizes up and wait until the last minute to have it altered.
Everyone is different. I'm 17weeks. I lost 21lbs (now down 17 from pre-preg weight) and my waist is 8 inches bigger than it was at 9 weeks. I have a huge bump. My old shirts don't even cover my tummy anymore.
i was thicker around the middle (i lost my waist entirely) but did not have much of a noticeable bump. my boobs had grown 2 cup sizes or more by 17 weeks.
the biggest change i noticed was how my rib cage expanded. i went from a 32 size bra to a 36 SO quickly... i couldn't believe how fast my body changed.
I agree that everyone's bump progresses at a different rate. I'm 5ft 11 and at 17 weeks I was barely showing but I had gone up a bra size and a lot of my clothes didnt fit
At 17 weeks I was showing just a little bit. My pants weren't fitting well anymore (without leaving them unbuttoned and using a bella band). All of my dresses still fit fine, but I didn't try out anything that had zero stretch like satin. My guess is that you'll probably still fit in the dress, but you might need to go a size up. It's so hard to tell.
Every pregnancy is different. For my first with my daughter I had a tenny tiny bump. I was 2 weeks past my due date and people were stunned when they asked because they thought I was about 5 - 6 months.
But with my Son I had a huge belly, and carried really really low. I stuck out for miles, it was so uncomfortable. And he was lighter in weight than my daughter, but much longer.
I think the difference was with my daugher, her placenta was at the very top of my uterus, When she moved, I felt like I needed to take a few ribs out to make room for her. But my Son, his placenta was right down near my cervix (so much so that I kept having to have scans because they were concerned my cervix would be blocked) and he felt like he was about to fall out all the time because he was soooo low.
I was a bit further along when I was a pregnant bm. I ordered my dress 3 sizes larger. I should've ordered it 2 sizes larger. I was so sad when I put the dress on because it was so big. I had to wait until less than two weeks out for alterations because I was still growing. The lady still had to take a nice bit in, but I looked great.
My dresses still fit at that time, but I have had one of those satin type of bridesmaids dresses and they tend to make the alterations turn it so it fits so tight. I bet at the dress store they have dealt with this lots and can guide you through.
The dress is from David's Bridal so I thought I would take it there and ask. They work with so many brides and bridal parties I'm sure they would be able to advise. I think I will get a size or two bigger. It would be easier to take a dress in and have extra to spare an then to have only limited fabric to let it out. Thank you everyone! I can't wait to see a bump :)
Everyone is definitely different. I started showing really early, not sure why, I was pretty small-waisted before being pregnant but I have a long torso so I'd have expected it to take longer. For an example though, the first stranger said something to me about being pregnant at 17 weeks. I don't know if there is any way to know how big you'll be!

I am going to be 17 weeks pregnant at the time of my best friend's wedding. I am nervous now about the bridesmaid dress and whether it will still fit or if I need to get a larger size (it is a satin fabric with no stretch and an a-line cut dress). How big was everyone around this time???
