We’re throwing our own engagement party, I’ve never thrown a party ever, and I’m nervous!
We’re having about 25-30 people. There will be food, drinks & music of course, but what else?
I’m a bit worried my friends will be bored. I’m 23, most of my friends are aged 21-25. We all normally just go out to clubs and bars, and when we do occasionally have a ‘party’ at someone’s house, there are usually drinking games involved, beer pong, etc. I don’t really want to have beer pong at my engagement party, but at the same time I don’t want them to get bored/awkward and leave.

Don’t people just socialize anymore? I see many posts about needing to entertain guests. The entertainment is the music and the other people there. I’ve never gone to a party and expected entertainment other than the other people there.

I think what you have organised is fine! Just make sure the music is fun… When music suits the audience then the night will be full of dancing and socialising! I agree I don’t really think drinking games are approriate (but again, it is your party so do what you want)!
Maybe you can suss out from those who are attending their fav songs and you can make sure their requests are played?

We just had our engagement party and music and food was all the entertainment we needed. Everyone kept wanting to come up to us and talk. oh, and we had a photo-sharing app so lots of people were taking photos (much cheaper than hiring a photographer and we got tons of great photos. We’ll use it again at the shower and at the wedding/reception – PhotoOpp Bride Edition). We had a dj and everyone danced, kind of like a wedding reception. Now I can’t wait for the wedding!
