So, the date is set, the venue booked, the STD’s almost sent, the dress bought. Besides that, we have 200 days until our wedding. My mom is coming into town for 3 days for the first time in 9 months and wants to ‘help’. She isn’t paying for the wedding (though is helping with the rehersal dinner), but she wants to be a part of the planning. I would love her to, but I’m not sure what parts to include her in. So I need help. Do I let her help with my invitations? Veil? Music choices? Dinner menu? I’m not sure what to have her ‘help’ with.

is there a project you could work on together? Is the rehearsal dinner all set or could you go try out a spots together? Did you pick out floral designs yet? Could you go back into the shop and try on the dress you picked out with some veils so she can feel a part of that? 200 days out is still in the planning process – could you go through magazines together and show her some of your vision?
I would think about your mom first – what is it she is most excited about? I wanted my grandmother to feel included so I walked around her garden with her and had her give me advice on flowers to include in the wedding.
She probably just wants to feel included and helpful. Just talking with her about it might be enough.

Sorry. Just thought of something else – what about shopping for a mother of the bride’s dress?

Just talk about any outstanding choices or projects and seek her opinions.
Make it clear that you are asking a number of people for input though.
If you have a DIY ready to go ask her to help with it.
Is there anything you need still-items for favors, centerpieces, OOt bags etc ? You can always ask her to hunt at home.

Ohhhh, all good ideas. OOT bags and centerpieces are where I am going to start. And invitation help.
The sad thing is, I bought my dress 1000 miles away, the venue is 250 miles away and I can barely make up my miind about shoes until the dress arrives in November.
I’m excited to have her be a part of it, especially since she lives out of state! I better make these three days worth it!
