Okay, so I already purchased my invitations, I got them from a department type store really super cheap and couldn’t pass them up. The only problem…they are really plain and white and just not cool. Do you have any ideas as to how I could jaz them up a bit? I’m thinking I could take a crafty vintage looking patterned stencil, and paint the stencil design on the back of the invite in black since that is one of our colors. I could also of course change the envelopes to black to make it more formal and elegant looking.
Do any of you have ideas or suggestions as to how to spruise up a plain old invite and make it match your wedding theme/colors? 🙂

I put a red “jacket” on my super plain white invitations and tied it with a bow.

There are so many AWESOME stamps out there. Pick one wedding related or monogram it. So chic with monograms… also, there are these pigments that raise up and create cool textures when you use a blow dryer or some heat. Just pick the color theme you have going for your wedding …
fyi: just a simple 1 stamp… try not to get stamp happy! hehe. Maybe it would be nice on the envelopes somewhere is a corner? A matching ribbon would be a great addition.
Anyway, Good luck!

Belly Bands, Bows at the Top, using a Fiskars Edge Cutters, you could make a unique edging, maybe you could add a “heavy” backing to your invite “matte it” I guess you could say! I think even a colored RSVP envelope or inside envelope! just a pop of color!
Mine are pretty basic too, but I plan to use some “red” font on our invite as well as jazz it up a bit! =) have fun with it!

We’re getting a embosser with our logo on it. Found this example on Google

Paper source has some awesome papers, and if you just did a belly band, it wouldn’t cost more than 7 or 8 dollars. They also have videos on their wbsite to show you how to make them look good. Or maybe a cool ribbon or raffia? If you are printing them yourself, you could print with a colored ink.

@Mrs.Anchors: I actually just picked out a stamp and some other things today that matched our color scheme and vintage feel! I’m super excited about doing what I’m going to. I am going to take before anf after pictures and post when I am finished! I’m super excited to get started! 🙂
and thanks everyone for the suggestions and ideas! It means a lot! 🙂

We had a similar problem although ours did come with a belly band and jacket. Problem… The whole thing was white. Like a PP suggested we bought a stamp that fit our theme and we will stamp it in one of our wedding colors on the background before printing them out. Something like that might work for you too. Colored jackets out of card stock could be easy peasy though.

I absolutely love the look of ribbons/bows, I think they are so romantic. I think adding this in your colors would be a very nice touch.
