how closely are you working/did you work with the florist?
the wedding is less than 2 weeks away and i have no idea how much time and planning this florist is actually puts into each wedding. do they just throw it all together in a week? my planner says to give the florist some creative freedom, but i would like to know what to expect.

Well, my florist works out of our venue.  We are getting married at a resort, and the florist is on site and generally very into all things wedding.  So I feel like I have been blessed with her being very involved and very into meeting with us each time we meet with our coordinator.

That said, she wanted specifics from me.  Colors, types of flowers, and definitely wanted specifics for my bouquet.  For BM bouequets and centerpieces, I told her a general idea of what I liked and she made mockups for me.

Have you had any meetings with her?  I think you should call her ASAP and ask her to meet in the next week.  At a minimum, she should know the colors, types of flowers you like, etc. and be able to give you a pretty concrete list of what she suggests using at this point.

My florist required me to meet with him 5 months in advance so he could order the flowers ASAP (apparently some can be hard to order during certain seasons).

If you haven't given your florist this information, call tomorrow!! Maybe you have already told your florist what colors and which flowers to use? I can't really tell from your post.

As to how much time goes into it, I would think they wouldn't really be able to start working on bouquets or arrangements until the day before the wedding?

i met with my florist like 10 months before the wedding, told her the flowers that i wanted, and that's pretty much it.

This is a great topic.  I'm just not sure when I need to start interviewing florists.  Part of my problem is I'm not exactly sure what I want quite yet.
