How did your SO discover your ring size? Did he guess? Sneakily collect clues? Or were you the sneaky one who dropped him a hint? We're talking engagement within possibly the next year, and he recently asked me to tell him "all of my sizes" so that his mom could shop for my upcoming birthday. I thought he and his mom already knew my clothing sizes, since she recently helped him pick out a great tennis outfit for me. Now I'm wondering if he might be collecting information for some jewelry down the line... Tell us about how your guy figured out your digit dimensions!
My FI (then BF) were looking a rings when we first started dating at the pawn shop because the only ring I had was my class ring and wanted some thing 'sparkly' and he remember my size 4 years later. :)
He thought he was being sneaky and took my high school class ring...little did he know that ring is much too big for me, haha. So we had to have my e-ring resized.
We went ring shopping together- and I made a folder of all the rings I liked with notes about size and stores we liked.
we went ring shopping and i was measured. it was actually one of my selling points for letting me tag along!
He picked up a ring that I always wore and put the ring on his finger... After putting it on his finger, he remembered (marked) where the ring hit his own finger. Therefore, when he went to the jewelry store, he knew where the ring needed to stop on his finger. Hope this makes sense to you because it isn't really doing the job for me LOL
My mom was a jeweler until she retired. He asked her she took a guess, and they were right on.
When I got my Aggie Ring before graduation, he went with me and "sneakily" asked if both of my ring fingers were the same size. Let's just say, from then on out I was pretty excited about the possibility of a proposal. :)
I went to the mall and asked a salesperson what ring size I was. When I came home I just randomly said "In case you ever need to know my ring size is an 8."
We went ring shopping a few times and when it got closer to the time for him to pick it out he took one of my rings to the jewelry store and brought it back without me knowing.
He stole a ring I sometimes wear on my right hand and had it sized to the same.
I'm not sure... He and I have talked about the ring for a while now, but he never actually asked me for my ring size and I never told him. I do have a ring that I don't wear often in my jewelry box that he could have gotten.
I guess we'll find out when my ring arrives if he got the right size, haha.
I went to the mall to get my finger sized turns out it was too big. I ordered a ring to try on and it didn't come in my size. When I tried it on just to see it fit perfectly. I used the ring sizer that it came with and found my true size. I then told my SO you know just in case whenever the time comes.
I got one of those plastic sizers that look like a tiny belt (my reasoning for this was that I was ordering a silver ring on etsy and didn't know my size), and one day I started kind of poking fun at him for his "sausage fingers" and asked him what size ring HE was, of course he didn't know, so whipped out the thing and measured him. Then, luckily, he asked me what mine was, and remembered. :)
We looked at engagement rings I might like together and I was sized for my e-ring then. Funnily enough, when I got the ring it was a little bit too big--I think it was because I'm kind of in between sizes. So I had to take it back to get resized anyways. Oh well, we tried to get it right though haha.
I have no idea lol. I have NO rings that actually fit me so he didn't get my size from any of those... but some how my ring fits absolutely PERFECT :)

He didn't know mine, and I really didn't have a single ring fitted to that finger. Soooo, since it was his great-grandmother's ring and he didn't want it to be sized wrong and then have to be sent back again. So he did nothing until AFTER he proposed, then we went and had it sized.
He proposed while we were on a ski trip so I couldn't really wear it anyway, but you better believe it was at the jeweler's as SOON as we got home ;o)
I was just like... in case this is ever important information... I wear a 6.5.
He asked one of my best friends to ask me for him. Yeah - my DH is really "sneaky".
I told him. now if he remembers that is the thing...
@Sanfranny1: He called my mom and he looked through my jewelry box during the call. He described rings and asked if they fit me. I have no idea where I was during this phone call, but that's what he did. He got the ring size right, but it's never been resized since he had it made.
@cazian: That is also why i told him too.... why have him get the ring and it not fit when he goes to put it on you, I also dont wear any other rings so he cant go off of those..
I got out of my SO that his favorite store to buy jewelry from is Shane Co. One day one of my friends and I decided to go there and I tried on rings. I ended up picking out three options and they wrote the info down and put it in a file under his name. The sheet also has my ring size on it.
One night when we went out to dinner, I brought it up that I had gone to the jewelry store and there was a sheet on file for him. Later I even convinced him to go back to the store with me and we ended up picking out a different ring that I liked even better. They changed the info on the sheet and put it back into the file.
This was like 6-8 months ago and whenever my SO decides to get the ring, I sure hope they still have it. I fell in love with that ring. Apparently they change their stock quite often. I was actually thinking about stopping by the jewelry store today just to check!
He asked and I told him... no sneakiness there :) except my finger has shrunk in the past few months, so now the ring is too big. I did get measured when we bought wedding bands, so I might get the engagement ring resized soon to fit better.
We were talking about hands...and I commented on how much bigger his hand was than mine even though I have chubby fingers. He was like "what size is your ring finger anyway?". I answered and we continued on with other topics of conversation. I didn't even stop to think about why he wanted to know....he's sneaky....LOL
We went ring shopping and got my finger sized. That was in Oct and still no ring – but the other day I asked him if he remembered what ring size I was and he answered correctly!
It’s so cute how some of the SOs figured it out!
I'm not engaged yet :/ but about 6 months ago he ordered a sizer online and we figured it out together.
He asked. We were speaking about something and it just turned into "by the way, what size is your finger." I got officially sized at one of our consults.
He took me ring shopping to get ideas and size, then took it from there :) Well... kinda. My finger is a 6.75 but he bought the ring out of the case instead of ordering it because he didn't want to wait (bless his heart). My ring is a 6.5 and is just a tad tight... but that's okay, it's not going anywhere!
There was a ring that he knew fit the right finger, so he sneakily used that and asked my girls to verify by asking me!
My husband and I did the ring shopping together. But back in the day when I was with "What Was I Thinking" ex, he got my ring size by tying a piece of dental floss around my finger while I was sleeping.
He asked. I don't know why exactly since I send him a random email with all that info a couple weeks before. Boys!
Our first ring shopping trip. They sized me on the spot at the store. I never told him but ironically I knew what my ring size was without ever being sized or trying a ring on that finger.
