A friend of mine asked how Weddingbee's waiting bees have been finding the site... I started confidently giving some reasons, and then halfway through realized that I had no idea.

I'm pretty sure that most other wedding-focused sites aren't that friendly to waiting brides...  we make an extra effort to be welcoming to everyone (well, except for spammers) and so I hope that's part of it.

But still, it got me wondering exactly how our waiting brides are finding the 'bee... so I thought we'd post a poll!

If you are a waiting bee (or joined while you were still waiting)... how did you first come across the Weddingbee site?

I don't remember how exactly I found weddingbee when I was waiting. I think design*sponge linked me to a wedding blog which linked me to another wedding blog which linked me to weddingbee. I was so happy to find Weddingbee, and even happier that I had already found it once I got engaged.

A friend of mine asked for help in planning her wedding. It's something I've always been interested in so I jumped on the job! I first fell in love with Rock 'n' Roll Bride and still check it out quite frequently ... and I don't remember what led me to weddingbee but ever since then, I've been hooked. Coincidentally, right about the time this friend asked me to help plan is when Cam and I got serious!

I was randomly searching for anything wedding when helping my best friend plan her wedding. Found it last January, but have only recently started actually joining in on the boards.

I've known about Weddingbee for a while, but not the Boards, just the Blog for inspiration.  I write wedding related articles.  I learned about the Waiting Board from a friend.

I was doing some preliminary research and found Weddingbee through Google. I can't even remember what I was searching for. Probably colors/themes ideas.

Funny thing is, I think I may have googled it first, but then didn't understand the site. Months later, I got linked in from a different site, probably APW or OnceWed, and then decided I would figure it out.

I don't remember what was confusing about the site to me at first, maybe it changed!

Oh dang what a difficult question lmbo!! I think I was searching for pictures for a client and then found a gallery in the google images and from there I saw the boards and it's been history :D

eta the only waiting board that has ever been this friendly was the wedding channel WAY WAY WAY back when (remember I have been engaged before) I think 2000-2005 or 6ish, before they made the board changes to resemble the knot.  There was also a great magazine, I think it was bridal guide that was really awesome too. It had a waiting section or perhaps a wedding section when I was engaged, I cannot remember... Yes  I've always been detail and wedding obsessed... so sue me :D

The Knot. Someone linked it on their boards (I think she actually linked to a classified she had here). I was there looking for ideas and feeling scorned for not having a ring yet. :)

I love the Mr. Bee option... I was never a waiting bee, so I didn't want to skew the results, but I googled "Wedding communities" and then weeded through to find one that I would feel at home with... Hello Weddingbee!

I was at the end of my tether, (still am to a certain extent but anyway...) I wanted advice on how to help stay patient while I waited. I googled my misery and it popped up wedding bee. I read a few topics, wanted to join in and so I joined! I figured it would be good to use ideas from other people to get a feel of what is out there. I've been to 3 weddings in my lifetime. One I was a bridesmaid at my cousins wedding aged 8 and the other two was evening only as i was working on one of them, and family only ceremony at the other. So it is fair to say I have naff all experience of weddings or how to plan them.

If anything I'm worrying more seeing some of the problems other bees have encountered :S but I LOVE that it's a friendly place that we can let our hair down with like-minded people.

I randomly searched for candle centerpieces on google.  Got to a blog (ikea hacked i think?) that showed Mrs. Lemon's centerpeices.  Sniffed around a bit and saw Mrs. Martini's ring, asked her for details, and the rest as they say, is history.  Still reading a year and half later.Smile

I found it through a link on smitten when they had a blogger who was waiting too and someone suggested she check out tjis board. I had actually been on the blog once before but not understood what it was, but now I love the boards!

Like gingerlex, I was becoming impatient and did a google search to find others in the same situation. I think I typed something like: waiting to get engaged "message board" or something like that. One of the sites that came up was Weddingbee. I thought it was a cute but kind of weird name, so I became curious and clicked on the link. The rest is history! And boy, was I glad to find it. :)

No idea how I got here, but everyone is so nice, I stayed! (The Knot is quite mean to us waiting, like we're making our guys marry us!)

Almost a year ago, I was doing some research for work about powerful female bloggers when lucky me found an article on another blog on just that topic that featured Wedding Bee. In the course of my investigation I found Wedding Bee had boards and even one that was for waiting bees. "Wait-a-tick. I'm waiting!" I thought to myself and I stalked the boards for a little while before I found myself asking a question I wanted to ask the hive, so I signed up for an account at that point :)

Whoops, I just realized this was a 'waiting' post... I wasn't waiting at the time (had been engaged for, oh, about 5 minutes!)

Whoops, I had been engaged already when I found it. I never really looked online at anything wedding related before I got engaged. Watched a ton of wedding shows though! But I've said this before - my friend powers the site for Eharmony and recommended it to me when I got engaged. I actually saved her email b/c I wanted to remember what sites she recommended and came back to them every so often.

There was really no real transition between 'waiting' and 'engaged' as there was no proposal, but I was long distance researching about venues/dresses etc. and randomly came upon WB.  Within about 2 minutes I was hooked and the rest is history!

I know the first Miss Flip Flops (for like 5 minutes) from law school and have always read her blog. So, I found out about weddingbee when she became a bee and announced it on her blog-- and then announced her departure. So, I was aware it existed. Then a few months before I got engaged I was reading a post on another blog showing the poster's rings and explaining that she'd learned how to take the photos via weddingbee. I remembered about it from reading the old Miss Flip Flop's blog so I decided to come on over and had every intention of not liking it bc of the whole eharmony thing... but I was won over in about 5 min haha.

I actually first came to the site because my now-FI was going to be in a wedding and neither of knew exactly what was expected of him, or what was expected of me (his non-wedding-party date).  So I initially spent most of my time on the Etiquette boards, but fell in love with the blog and stayed!

...So 4 people are married to Mrs. Bee? I mean, I knew she loved weddings, but really!

I googled "wedding blogs". About 4 months before we got engaged, I. WAS. OBSESSED. But this blog is the only one I have stuck with after that flurry of inspiration stage because it is such a supportive community, not just wedding p0rn.

I googled "How long would you wait for a proposal" or something similar. Because I'm trying to figure out how long I should wait for one. It's nice to see that other people are in the same situation and that things work out.

I was heavily involved in another wedding website's forums, and they were kind of known for tearing people apart. Once they found out I was waiting, they turned on me, and I stopped visiting the site. In their eyes girls like me are obsessed with weddings, and delusional. I wanted to find a place that understood me better. I'm in the pre-planning stages, and waiting for the ring to be paid off.

I'm totally and completely obsessed with weddings! I'm actually going to school for events management, so it's not a bad thing :) I think I found it through another bridal blog, and have been obsessed ever since but just finally made an account.
