The best announcement I’ve seen was the couple had their family together and told them they wanted to get a picture. The husband was holding the phone camera and set it to video instead of picture. They then started to pose while the husband was already videoing, and the husband said “Smile…because _____ is pregnant!”. He was able to record their reactions as they realized what he said. It was really cute, and cool to be able to keep the reactions.

We’re not TTC yet, but I already have it planned out (for now). When we bought our house in December, my mom and dad flew out and helped us paint it from top to bottom. So, we’re going to give them a gift of a few paint brushes and different pink and blue paint swatches. Obviously, we’ll videotape it if we can! I’m a big fan of surprises that people have to think about for a minute before they get it 🙂

Weddingashley1116:  OMG we aren’t even close to TTC yet, but I am storing that away for the future!  How perfect!

Daizy914:  I’m friends with an old colleague on facebook and they annouced by posting a photo of each of them on a bike with a tricycle next to them.  A caption was pointing to the tricycle and said, “A new rider coming June 2014”  You could do something similar if you and your husband share a common interest.

Weddingashley1116:  not close to TTC yet either, but this is just too cute!

I had a friend who posted a picture on facebook of a cinnamon bun cooking in their oven with the caption “there’s a bun in my oven”.  Although I had heard the phrase a million times it still took me a second to realize she was announcing her preganancy lol

We put “baby arrives February 2015” on my birthday cake when we celebrated with my husband’s immediate family this past week. It was a complete surprise to them, and they loved it.

Daizy914:  We announced to different people in different ways. With my dad and step-mom, we were out to dinner and we handed them a Chirstmas list that said “Wool socks. Nice thermos. Dog bed. Jogging stroller. Rocking chair. Cloth diapers.” He took the list seriously and was like, “Ok, what size socks? What brand of dog bed?” Then there was a really long pause and his face was priceless! My stepmom got teary and it was just really sweet all around. For my MIL, we called to thank her for the Christmas gifts and I told her, “yeah, the clothes are great and they fit….but they probably won’t for long!” For FB, I just posted a picture of me skiing on a beautiful day and I wrote, “Skiing for two this winter! Baby Ourlastname due July 24th!” (I ski for my job). Announcing is so fun!
