I did it in person (2 have moved but they all lived close at the time) with a small gift: ice wine from a town FI and I toured for FSIL and one other BM, a bag for my BFF/MOH, who can’t drink for medical reasons, and a bear for my youngest BM, who can’t drink because she is 10, lol.

I just asked mine last week 🙂

I bought dishwasher safe, clear, plastic cups like the ones you get at a fast food place. They had “bridesmaid” printed on them. The one for my MOH had “Maid of Honor” printed on it. I filled them with candy. I also made up my own cards on Zazzle and stuck a letter inside the card. The letter said how much I wanted them and a brief outline of what I wanted out of my bridesmaids and about how much financial committment it is. I mailed the boxes to each of them. (Who doesn’t like to get a package in the mail, lol?)

Out of 4, 2 have said yes, one just got it today because she has been out of town for work, and another is my sister who lives across the country and in her own little world, lol.

Well I planned to send them all a cute little box of goodies and a cute card, but every last one of those heffas beat me to the punch.  Within 2 months of my engagement, they all asked me if they were going to be in the wedding.  I tried to deflect at 1st, but they were persistent and wore me down, until finally I just said yes.  How rude, right?  Its just my sisters and my 2 best friends since middle school, so I should have expected that they wouldn’t wait for me to formally ask. I already had plans on all of them being bridesmaids anyway, so it wasn’t like one of those awkward stories where girls keep asking, and you don’t even intend to include them anyway.

I got a nice card and wrote a letter to each girl. I gave the cards to them in person and said they can either read it now or later.

3 of the girls I gave the cards to together when we all went out to dinner. Because of the group dynamic between the four of us I needed to ask them at the same time. I think they picked up on what it was but they all opted to read the card in private and then I had a sweet phone call with each of them afterwards.

My sister and other bridesmaid I gave separately when I saw them the same week.

I had them over for dinner and had specialty wine labels made on etsy.  I got the trader joes wine and took the old labels off with a magic eraser and the new ones went on smooth.  Turned out so cute!

Zoelalo:  we ordered labels from the same seller!  I ordered hers in white!

I gave my gals wine bottles with personalized labels that I put on this wine (the one with people dancing) – you could see the strip with people dancing underneath the wine label.

JessiLulu:  Well, I asked a month after I got engaged because I went back and forth over how I wanted to do it. By then, my entire bridal party assumed they were in it already, so it wasn’t necessary to do something big and grand. Instead, I opted for a card I designed and wrote them a handwritten note. I mailed them all out.

I put together a box for each of them with wine, nail polish and kit, lotion, tissues, candy, and a hangover kit. I made then each a card too. I could have just texted each of them and they would have been fine with it. I just wanted to have some fun with my girls.
