I made adorable little dress cards like these:

but I ended up asking one Bridesmaid or Best Man over a text another over the phone and then my Future Sister-In-Law actually kind of asked me who I was having and since I hadn’t given her hers yet I just tripped over my own tongue and asked her right there.  They’re still sitting in their envelopes =(

It may seem tacky, but it was a phone call or text. I live 1200 miles from the girls and couldn’t do all the fancy stuff I’ve seen on Wedding Bee since I got engaged! They said yes, so I don’t think they minded Laughing

I just called them or asked them in person when I saw them…nothing special 🙂

I had already unofficially asked them (and they’ve known it since, like, 2nd grade), but I “officially” asked them with cookies in this kind of style (these aren’t mine):

I put them in plastic candy bags & tied them with ribbon the color that I wanted their dresses to be. That way they “doubled” as a fabric swatch for them to use while shopping (I let them choose their own dresses).

I asked three of my Bridesmaid or Best Man over the phone pretty much right after I got engaged (my younger sister and two of my cousins.)  However, I later sent them pretty little handmade cards to thank them for saying yes and to let them know how honored I am that they’ll be standing up with me on my big day.  I’m sure no matter how you do it, your girls will be thrilled! 🙂

My sister (MOH), it was just kind of assumed. I was her’s 2 years ago and it was also kind of assumed.

My 2 close friends, I made them scrapbooks with pictures of us over the years. The last page I wrote a letter asking them to by bridesmaids.

MY sent my Future Sister-In-Law (she lives far) a package with random stuff from the party store (we do this all the time- find the most random stuff to mail her) and a “secret” letter to decipher. Had the phrase “Will you be my bridesmaid?” but instead of writing each word, I had a picture (will smith, uncle same, bumblebee…)

No cute ideas here, sorry. My best friend forever knew she’d be MoH. I don’t think I ever officially invited her. I’m pretty sure it was just understood and from the very beginning, we were busy with planning together and shopping for dresses, etc. As for my bridesmaid, I called her up on the phone and asked.

I called them up and asked them. I also told them the price of the dress upfront and told them my plans for the wedding weekend which included staying at a hotel the night before and then going to the reception hall early in the morning to decorate. I wanted them to be informed of what the position involved before they said yes.

My friends just knew. I called after the proposal and said, “you’re still gonna be a bridesmaid, right?” and they all yelled “of course!!!” I gave them gifts at the rehearsal, but that was all. I may still make them photo calendars…But it’s all in thanks for doing it. I still don’t understand the cutesy asking thing, sorry. 🙂

I sent my SIL flowers.  I asked the florist to hand-tie a boquet (you know – “for $50 and just tie it together so it kinda looks like a boquet”) and write on the card something sappy about standing next to me when I got married.  They did a really good job with the flowers, she totally got it (although my bro pulled in behind the florists’ van and was all “who the eff is sending MY WIFE flowers?!”  Heh).

Oh yeah – she lives in TX, me in MI and I won’t see her between when we got engaged and the wedding, so that was as personal as I could come up with.  Of course she called me when she got them.

My Maid/Matron of Honor knew she was going to be in the wedding party before hand but didn’t know she was to be the only maid. I dug through Target’s card display looking for a cute blank card to write a cute poem I saw on a board here. Couldn’t find one but I did kind a ‘friend’ card that talked about there being no one else in the world quite like you. I wrote “And there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side on my wedding day! Would you be my Maid of Honor?” inside. She loved it and was super excited to have something to stick in a scrapbook! (slight scrapoholic my Maid/Matron of Honor is :))
