I wanted to be married before the end of my training and start of my new job so I could make a smooth transition to the next chapter of my life. We didn’t want to conflict with other holidays or major events. Our private ceremony is around the date of our dating anniversary. The celebration is during a relatively warm time of the year so we don’t have to bundle up too much to get to the wedding.

I didn’t want a very long engagement, and I have always wanted a fall October wedding, when it is still fairly warm and not to to cold, so October 2nd it is!!

We had to work around wedding season as that is FI’s busy season as well, being in the wedding industry. November 14th was far enough after his busy season ends so that he could enjoy the weeks leading up to his own wedding rather than worrying about everyone else’s.

We didn’t want a long engagement and it was the closest date that we could realistically have everything paid for! Romantic in a practical way lol.

We wanted an early Fall wedding in Maine.  Since it gets cold early, we chose September.  Mid-September was also conveniently placed in between two other possible weddings we would attend… September 19th, 2015!  I’m sort of obsessed with the date now.

We wanted a summer date because we are both grad students and summers are just a bit easier.

After viewing venues, we called up the one we loved and asked, “do you have any Saturdays available in June” They replied, “yes, one.” We picked that one.

TheHappyWife:  We wanted to get married in December of this year, sooooo it was more of a toss up of either weekend A or weekend B, we chose weekend B.  We just wanted our wedding in the off season to be different than everyone else 🙂 I’m so excited I can barely wait!

damarajade:  September up here is tricky! Could be perfect, could be 90 degrees. Where are you from!?

NovemBride1415:  I live in Pittsburgh, but I’m from Minnesota – and have lived many other places in the West.  I’ll be having the wedding in Bar Harbor. I was keeping track of the weather in Maine all September and have been looking at climate reports (anomalies and averages).  I figure September is a fairly safe bet.  I wouldn’t mind if it’s a bit warmer than usual there 😉

Bar Harbor is so beautiful! FI and I vacationed up there this past summer. We live about 2.5hrs southwest of Bar Harbor.

Being right on the coast, you won’t have to worry about it getting too warm, either. It will be perfect!

We wanted a winter wedding and we wanted it on a Sunday since we were going to have to in the CBD and wanted to avoid the clubbing crowd. Because it was going to be a Sunday, we wanted to have it on a long weekend so our guests didn’t have to worry about going to work the next day. Fortunately, there is only one long weekend in the winter – Queen’s Birthday weekend. Most people don’t really go away during then anyway and if they do, there are others who can take their seats

As beautiful as winter weddings are, I would be too afraid that my SO would be hunched over in all the photos.  He can’t seem to relax in the cold 😉  But I’ve always loved the idea of a winter wedding! I love the snow!

We wanted to have a spring or fall wedding. We also didn’t want to wait too long after our engagement, so…

We picked the first Saturday after our anniversary! It also happens to be exactly 11 months after our engagement!
