    • Wedding: September 2014 - SPRING VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB

I knew I wanted a fall wedding. FI wanted the 3rd week in October. That was too close to Halloween for me. So September 28th was the compromise

I knew I wanted a spring wedding. FI is terrible at remembering dates so we chose a date that should be easy to remember. The clue is counting nickels. 5/10/15 🙂

I don’t have a date yet, but I am narrowing it down to a season/month that I would prefer, and then seeeing what venues I like have dates available. I am keeping i mind certain things, like my sister’s final exams. So, I am interested in May so I am trying to pick a date in late May vs. early May. I basically have a 3 month window where I would be happy to have the wedding (may-june-september) and am hoping to find a venue with availabilty in one of those months.

It was the only date in the whole year where the venue was available, we had sufficient daylight hours (ceremony at 5.30pm), our parents could attend and we could both get leave! We still have Fi’s dad back from his FIFO role the day before, so it’s not ideal but as good as it would get!

It’s my deceased father’s birthday, and was conveniently a Saturday 🙂

    • Wedding: July 2015 - Golf Course

I randomly picked a date in mid-July, which is 7/11 (2015), when I was previewing STDs on Vistaprint. After that, I got arbitrarily attached to that date, and really wanted it then 😛 Plus, 7/11 is free slurpee day at 7-11 the corner store, so I joke with my FI that we get free anniversary slurpees for life!

Kind of a mix between 1 and 2!  I’m a teacher and don’t get personal days, so I knew it had to be in the summer so we could do our honeymoon after (weather is too unpredictable at the winter and spring breaks and I knew if we did it for one of them I’d be a nervous wreck that our families would be prevented from getting to the wedding by a blizzard).  So when we met with the priest for the first time he pulled out the calendar and started reading out dates that were still available for this summer.  The first couple of weeks were too early, as I was still in school, a few of the middle weeks we already had plans, and the last few weeks I would be back at school.  It was FI who suggested our date as it is 2 days before our dating anniversary 🙂

    A.  It was cheap (on a Thursday, wedding venue of our dreams at $10,000 less than the weekend rate)

    B.  It is our sixth anniversary

    C.  It’s a few days before our honeymoon (we are going to the same convention that we originally met at)

We wanted October, and a Sunday so I picked 10/12/14 because I liked the musicality of saying it 😉

I wanted a little bit longer then a year to plan. I didn’t want it close to our birthdays. The date worked for us and everyone and I liked the sound of the date.

We wanted a fall wedding, but I am a teacher, and fiance will be in his first semester of law school. So we settled for the middle of the summer and picked July 9th, because nine is my favorite number. So pretty random, but with some logistical concerns that helped sway the decision.

    • Wedding: April 2015

We chose March 28th. March, like my grandparents. 28, my favorite number. Decent weather with off season pricing. And then we found our venue and March 28th was booked. So, April 25th. The 25th like my grandparents, and even nicer weather, with low season pricing.

We had a couple requirements. It had to be a weekend, and it had to be between his parent’s work schedules (They’re both teachers.) My parents were variables, they could get any day off, but my husband’s parents were committed to particular blocks of time. So, we found a weekend that worked for his parents and chose it. ETA: Our date had zero significance to us. It was chosen out of necessity and practicality.
