I’m in the pre-planning stage and trying to decide what my wedding style and theme should be. I’ve picked our colors, blush and wine, which were inspired by J. Lo’s Still perfume campaign. SO’s favorite color is red, hence the wine which gives it a little more masculine feeling alongside the feminine blush pink.
Now I’m stuck with choosing a style/theme. We definitely want something casual and unpretentious but still has a touch of chicness/glamour. I see old New Orleans, sort of…laidback but classy. I’m stuck between an outdoor backyard of reception in my aunt’s faboulously gorgeous Atlanta home or an indoor reception in a cozy, dimly lit, speakeasy type of lounge in my home city. Ugh, I love both equally and am horrible at making decisions. SO likes both equally also, so no help there either.
How did all the rest of the bees here decide on a theme/overall style?

Which one gives you more of a feeling of who you guys are? If you’re going for a New Orleans type of feel the speakeasy seems to be a better choice but you can always bring New Orleans to your Aunts backyard with the right decor. Most importantly, it should be a reflection of who you two are. My fiance loves the ocean and we’re having a small intimate wedding so our themes is Vintage Beach (for some reason intimate weddings remind me of the 1930’s-1940’s). Maybe try to invision both, how you would like the decor, what atmosphere you would like to create and see which one jumps out at you.

@noenyu: I’ve really been trying to clear my thoughts and just picture us in each setting for the past couple of days. Everything in me is leaning towards the backyard wedding. Ever since my aunt moved into that house I’ve been kind of obsessed with it. I even told her that I wanted to have my wedding there (this was before SO and I were back together). So thanks for the advice. I’m a little apprehensive about it being outdoors but I think I’d be more sad if it couldn’t be in my aunt’s Atlanta home.
