Darling Husband just got a new job and I’m very excited that we’re moving! Of course, this means quitting my full-time job and starting my search process in a different city.
So, I’m curious: how did you find your current job? Did you apply to a listing you found online? Have help from friends and family? Do some professional networking? Something entirely different?

When my aunt left her job she recommended me for the position.

Feels like maybe I sold my soul to the devil, perhaps.

I was recruited out of my previous position.

I got it from a networking event by my university. I’m still in my first job and it’s been two years.

I responded to a job posting that was listed directly on the employer’s website. My suggestion to all of my students and direction that I always follow myself is, when looking for a job, chose several employers with whom you would like to work and follow their job postings on a daily basis. Employers get so many applicants nowadays that sometimes you only have a 24 hour window before they close it down – that’s how I got my current job.

A headhunter found my resume on Monster.

@khf777: I love this! The devil and I were real chums at my last job 😉 My current job, though, contacted me after seeing my resume online! I am lucky, to say the least.

I was looking at an old coworkers FB page and saw the company she worked for. I knew it was an online university so I messaged her about it. She told me they were hiring and I went to their website and applied.

@khf777: I’m sort of curious to know what field you’re in now!

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
I knew someone who worked here. She recommended that I visit the web listings for open positions, which I did. I applied, and here I am 9 years later. 🙂

I had graduated college and needed a job. My brother has been in same field for 15 years, and one his friends had a spot open… they hired me for an internship, and after two months they hired me full time.
Darling Husband got his first job by responding to an idealist.org posting, and he was hunted on Monster for his second. A recruiting agency found him and match him with a job. He absolutely loves his job, too.
I’m currently job seeking out of my field, and it’s proving to be super challenging.

I started out in my current job as a temp, and I was able to secure the permanent position after they posted it. A lot of people at my agency started out as temps, actually, before getting hired on permanently.
