One of my BMs and very close friend got married this spring.  While we were getting ready on her wedding day (I was in her wedding as well), I was gushing over her bracelet and asked where she got it because I was looking for something similar for my wedding a few months later.  She offered to lend it to me as my “something borrowed.”  It was great!

I did ask my mom to give me something of my grandmother’s to be my something old.  She gave me a brooch of my grandmother’s, as well as a pin my grandfather owned.  They were both pinned into my bouquet.  So I did ask someone for that part.

I’ll be wearing my grandmother’s fur capelet.  It’s my mom’s and I guess will eventually will be mine, but for the time being I’m borrowing it from mom.

I was looking for jewelry and remembered that my sister had a really pretty diamond and pearl necklace that she had gotten as a birthday gift a few years back.  I knew that it would go perfectly with my dress, so I asked to borrow it.   So mine was pretty easy!

My MIL also offered for me to look through her jewelry to see if I wanted to borrow anything.   She had a really pretty pearl necklace that was my husbands grandmother’s, but I liked the diamond and pearl look better.  I think that raiding families jewelry boxes is a good way to start!  πŸ™‚

I was actually in the hotel room the night before with my best friend and sister and realized that I didn’t have anything borrowed. My best friend let me borrow an earring for my cartlidge peircing. Such a random thing for my borrowed thing but whatever!

I didn’t have a something borrowed the day of and couldn’t find anything in my BM’s stuff (they were digging through all of their bags trying to find something!), but my stylist offered to put in some fancier bobby pins that she had.  It wasn’t what I had originally thought, but it worked out great!

My something borrowed was my mother’s pearls, a double strand necklace and a bracelet. I just asked her if I could wear them for my wedding day. She was beyond thrilled.

I asked MIL for a necklace.  I thought it would be nice to incorporate something from DH’s family πŸ™‚

I actually stole it from my mom lol. It was my paternal great grandmothers embroidered handkerchief (blue flowers are embroidered on it). She gave it to my mom as a present I think for one Christmas or a birthday or maybe just because…anyway when I was like 10 I found it in my mom’s drawer and I have had it ever since. Even at 10 I knew I needed something blue and borrowed. I have told my mom I have it but she’s never asked for it back so I keep it in  safe box with a few other small important wedding things πŸ™‚

MIL offered her pearl necklace. We were talking at the bridal shower about what my ‘something’s were, and I mentioned the only once I still needed was my borrowed…

My crinoline and my belt were borrowed from the wedding shop πŸ˜‰ though I had offers from friends along the way to borrow a veil, a hair comb, or bolero

I’m probably going to borrow the earrings my mother wore on her wedding day.

My mom got married 2 years ago and had a custom made cathedral length veil with crystals. I am borrowing it and cutting it so it is shorter. But that is my borrowed. πŸ™‚
