goodevening bees i was wondering how you went dress shopping?
who did you bring with you and when you tried on a dress that you thought could be the one what did you do? did you show pictures of it to see how certain peoples opinion of you in that dress was? or did you just pick your dress and to hell with what anyone else thought?
Caz i’m going crazy here bees i think I’m dress shopping all wrong and considering other peoples opinions way too much. and to top it off i really didn’t care too much about there wedding dresses they all looked beautiful on there wedding day but there dresses were not my dream dress so i’m thinking that maybe i need to stop asking and just go with my heart and what makes me feel beautiful Caz its my dream dress and not everyone’s going to love it.
just wondering how you ladies are doing it/done it.
i really need your help bee’s
thank you in advance

Hah, I went with my mother AND my fiancé. We kind of made a rushed decision since they both loved the dress and the price. It was the first one they said looked good on me and we prematurely purchased it. I walked away slightly unsure about my purchase. This was in March. Fast forward to a week ago, I could not stand the feeling of knowing my fiancé saw my dress. I didn’t think I cared he saw it when I bought it, but it started feeling less special since he even had a photo of it. I could not get over my insecurities of how I looked in the dress and I felt like it did not fit what I wanted in for our wedding. I went shopping with a relative (not my mother and definitely not my fiancé) and picked out a dress that was twice as expensive. They let me return the first one. Now, I’m 100% am in love with my dress. Our wedding is in May so I bought my final dress pretty close to our date, but I also had a much better idea of what I wanted and what was important to me. (Keep in mind that most stores do want you to purchase earlier than 6 months.)

I went with my best friend. It was amazing and I’m so happy that she was there to support me. I would’ve brought my mom but she was out of state for the summer and honestly, in retrospect, I’m happy I didn’t. It was so much easier with just one honest person.

First time, I went with my mom and three of my bridesmaids to David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo. Didn’t really find ‘the one.’
Second time, I had seen a dress on pinterest and tracked it down to find out who made it. (It’s the ‘Watters Sydney’ dress.)
I went to the only salon in our area that carried it, and went with just my mom to try it on. I was instantly in love. <3
Now the dress is under HUGE WRAPS. I want it to be a TOTAL surprise to EVERYONE, not just my FI. I won’t even let my mom tell anyone what it looks like, lol.

the first two times i brought one of my bridesmaids with me who pushed me to try on different types of dresses… the rest of the trips i have been going alone and i have been sharing the pics of the favorites of the trips to 3 of my few girlfriends for honest opinion… i have also posted them here on the bee.. but i have yet to commint.. sigh.. i think i will just keep try on dresses alone (i prefer to shop alone in general anyways) and i will be keeping it to myself until i have narrowed it down to the absolute 2… i will not be doing a poll here on the bee anymore tho until i decide the one!.. lols i dont want to have endless pollsss.. bees will kick me outtt jaja.. jk

I went with my mom the first day and we found a few that we liked. Then we came back the next day with my husband’s mom and my sister to help me make the final decision.

I actually tried on my first dress with my bridesmaids.. I wasnt supose to but there was a huge sale and there was a beautiful lace gown that I really wanted to try..so I did. I was really disapointed cus it didnt look nearly as good on me as I thought it would. So I left it and the nest time I went dress shopping I had my mom and sister with me and my mom actually picked out this beautiful A line gown with pick ups in the skirt and a black lace bodice and i melted right then and there. I tried it on n that was it. She wasnt satisfied so i had to try on dozens more but ended up agreeing with me in the end haha. Over all It was ALOT easier going with my mom than I had originally thought!

I went and still only go with my mother and sister. For one, I want my dresses to be a surprise to everyone and also I just wasn’t an individual who needed everyones approval. But I must say going with a group seems like a big fun paty!!!
