I am in the process of booking a photographer right now but I keep stressing that my photographer isn’t the right one. I REALLY love her work, her price is within budget and shes extremely nice in person. She has no faults against her. So this isn’t about her personally more like in general about who I choose as my photographer. Bees who have chosen a photograhper for their own wedding- how do/did you know 100% sure that you have the best person possible for your wedding? I want some kind of reasurrance that the person I pick is going to be amazing and the photos will come out great. So bees, what did you do/ what made you confident in your decision with your photographer?

Honestly – I didn’t now 100% – and I’m not sure that goal is possible.
For me – I liked her, had a good sense about her – but really wasn’t sure. DH really liked her, and she fit all the things that you described (within budget, nice in person, loved her work) – but I STILL wasn’t sure.
She was really great with communication (esp via email) and that ended up being my FAVORITE thing about her. Great communication is seriously the most amazing thing when planning a wedding. Plus, her personality on the day of the wedding was SO IMPORTANT. She was so easy to work with, was pleasant to be around, and put up with my family! 😉 People commented that they felt like she was a friend (not a vendor) – and it’s true.
All that to say – after the fact, I wouldn’t have done it any different and I would recommend her to anyone (because of her great demeanor, follow-up and communication skills). Did she take the all-time best possible pictures? I don’t know… and I never will. Did she take tons of shots that I love and will treasure forever? Yes, definitely.
Hypothetically speaking, If I had 10 wedding photogs shoot my wedding, I’m sure I’d like pictures from each of their portfolios (of my wedding) – but they’d all be different… could you pick what is the best out of those 10? Probably… but what makes one better than the other (when you get to where you like all of their work, etc.). I think, in the end – those other little things (like personality, communication) really come into play!

I did a lot of googling and researching. Lots of people wrote reviews on our photographer for different websites (including this one), and nobody said a bad thing about him, they all just raved about how wonderful he is. That made me feel a lot better. I also followed his blog, and that made me fall more in love with his photos every day.

@oracle: I forgot to mention, the photographer I like is really fast about responding to emails too. Its a HUGE thing for me because I like to have easy communication between the two of us. Thank you for your insight and it helped!
