Stealing from the online post...I am curious! I met my hubby at work, and sometimes I still feel judged that it was taboo, even though we are now MARRIED, hahaha...we were friends first and obviously he was *the one*.
We were both doing hard time at the Block. Blockbuster, that is.
I was his manager and tried to fire him, (not because he was terrible, it just that he was only working a few hours a week and it looks bad to have a part-part time employee on the books...)
Anyhoozerddoodles. I realized I respected him, and then fell hard, but then I moved, so we never actually worked/dated, just worked/crushed. I think it's common to find the one at work, (well, where we worked is embarrassing) simply becuase you're putting the most hours at the workplace, and in theory, you have something in common, (which, doesn't pertain in my relationship, 'cause it was the block.....)
Ugh. Couldn't we have just met at a bar, or online...? The Block?! He jokes we should have a blue and yellow themed wedding..... OMDB. BTW, for my sake, we also worked other jobs at the time....
we had known each other since high school. we never really hung out though but i dated one of his good family friends before. then we met up at a street dance in the summer and were by each others sides since! I really didn't want to get into a relationship though. i had just got out of one, and been hurt pretty bad. Plus I had a 1 1/2 year old, and just wanted to focus on him. but thank God i took the chance! :)
I picked hobby and party/bar. We met at a concert so I figure that's pretty close. :-)
We met on match.com. We both signed up on Jan 1 2007 after the end of serious relationship the year before, we both saw one other person for 2 dates before we found each other, our first date was Valentines day 2007 and we haven't looked back :)
We met at....The Home Depot. SO embarassing. We were both working there for the summer while we were home/off from college...I was a cashier and he worked in doors and windows. I remember the first time I saw him walk by carrying a door and thought he was cute. He remembers thinking I was bad-a** because I had black hair and wore a lot of eye makeup. Ha! The rest is history I guess.
@hotchild that is so cute..now that I know your avatar isn't really you, and w/ your description, I'm dying to put a face to your name! but I understand, as I haven't posted my mug either ;)
@Cannotwait: hahaha I've toned it down a little since I was 20 (when I met FI) but I still favor the eye makeup haha.
Someday I will have to post a pic of myself on here, but until the wedding I thought it best to keep it anonymous ;o)
One of my girlfriends had a birthday BBQ for her husband. FI was one of his friends that attended the birthday party.
dating website initially and then the blind date. Our first date (met for coffee - both of us were playing it safe. A cup a Joe can only last for so long). We talked for over 4 hours at Starbucks over a Cup of Joe. We haven't looked back since. It was amazing. Both of our first time on a dating website (thanks to my aunt, I signed up and met him).
We met on eharmony. I'd signed up because I was sick of dating losers and wanted to meet someone who was ready to settle down. I was the first and only person he corresponded with!
My husband did (and still does) work with my brother. They became good friends, and they would go golfing all the time. I used to live w/ my brother when I first got out of college to get myself up and going, and when they went golfing together, he would secretly hope my car was there when they got home. He even asked my brother's permission to date me before he asked me out. He's a sweetheart
We met in high school. I went to an all girls school and he went to an all boys school. His school hosted a dance I went to, and he asked me to dance. The rest is history. :)
FIs college friend/roommate and I went to high school together. We all ended up at a beach house together over Spring Break. We tend to leave out the Spring Break part when asked how we met though :)
I met him randomly in LA. He was sitting next to me at a concert. We were both 1000+ miles from our respective home. It was fate:)
I met my FI on spring break.
It's always a little awkward telling the story to family because as soon as I say "spring break" I think they automatically assume we "hooked up." However, this is not the case. We just had a good time and continued talking via phone (he was in OH and I was in WI) when we got back and had the best conversations:) We were definitely meant to be!
We met at work, I was a hostess at a restaurant and he came in to start his summer job - he worked at the pizza window right across from me and then got promoted to runner :)
We met freshman year of school through mutual friends - nothing super-unusual. But we started dating in Madrid on Valentine's Day, so we did have a very romantic start to the relationship.
We met in a bar. But the crazy thing is, we went to the same high school and middle school together, and never knew who each other were. We even had a close mutual friend.
But, we thought long and hard about it, and we are glad we didn't meet earlier. We were totally different people then. I don't think we'd be together now, and I can't imagine my future without him.
we met through a friend that i worked with and he knew from high school. we started dating right away!
Where's the button for " fraternity party"
I feel like it deserves its own category LOL
We met through a mutual college friend at an anime convention :)
FI and I met during the summer after our second year of university. We both met at a martial arts class! I was so glad I signed up for Tae Kwon Do that summer :)
@sjones724: That's so funny!
We went to the same college but didn't know each other. We met 6 years after graduation through a mutual friend.
The first time we met was at my ex's St. Patrick's Day party. I didn't really pay much attention to him, but we did discuss a mutual love of Flogging Molly. I know, totally random. A week later he called and we went out on our first date.
I met him through my cousin who was his friend. We met in high school. <3
At a NYE party that I got dragged to against my will. Needless to say, I'm glad I got dragged out. :p
In college through mutual friends.
On Cinco De Mayo 2007, I was a little Mexican bar right off campus drinking with friends and he walked in towards the end of the night. We started talking and closed the bar down at 2:30am! It was an interesting start because we were both two weeks away from college graduation. Luckily we both ended up in the same city and have been togethe ever since.
Not to sound corny, but I knew very early on that FI was going to be the man I would marry!
@jaylii9 - I did too! I knew by then what I didn't want in a guy and pretty much exactly what I was looking for. My hubby was IT.
At college, in the dining hall during freshman orientation, second day... There's that awkward period where you don't know *anyone*, so you just sit wherever and introduce yourself. I was sitting by myself and he sat down across from me, then there weren't any activities that evening, so we went for a walk. I had a BF at the time and didn't realize he was romantically interested... took me 8 months to dump the loser. Whoops!
We met in first grade and that's the first time I told him that I loved him and wanted to marry him
We met in a restaurant/bar. He was there for a golf tournament function and I was there with friends from the same tournament.
I voted hobby because I met him when I was sitting on my patio reading a book. He lives in the same building where I bought my condo almost a year before but we'd never met before. He happened to be leaving another neighbor's house and I was sitting outside reading. He stopped to talk and mid-way through a sentence stopped and said, "you're beautiful". I was hooked.
Love all these stories! So cute.
We met through a mutual friend, who wanted to hook me up with FIs roommate at the time. lol. The roommate and FI came for a visit (the mutual friend was my college roommate and had dated FI like, 8 years prior) and FI and I hit it off! The roommate just got married in May so it all worked out the way it was supposed to! :)
