I googled wedding ceremony wordings.  I printed out dozens.  DH and I went through and highlighted our favorite parts then just sat down and put them all together like a jig saw puzzle.  Basically they are layed out in the same order so it really wasn’t hard, but it was kind of time consuming.  The one part that we both agreed that absolutely HAD to be there was the hand ceremony we got from Mrs. Apple.

I searched for example ceremonies online and personalized one of them. If you want to go from scratch, you can also take one as a guide for each section you’ll want to include, and then use your own language in it.

I’ve plugged this book before, but I found the Wedding Ceremony Planner by Judith Johnson very helpful. You can get it used for cheap on Amazon or download it if you have a Kindle. It breaks the ceremony into sections and then gives example texts for each of the sections which you can mix and match or just use as a springboard to add your own ideas. It also has insight into other aspects of planning the ceremony (besides the vows, readings, etc.), which is helpful for those of us who aren’t working within a religious tradition.

There was a super helpful bee who sent me some material that I cobbled together into our ceremony with a few additions. I’m sure I have her email somewhere with the info – if you PM your address I can forward it to you tonight when I have time to look 🙂
