How did you propose to your bridesmaids?

@TG123:  We have a balloon store in our area that delivers so I had stuffed balloons sent to them.  There was a card inside that asked them if they would be my…whatever (depending on who).

Similar to this one, but something different inside

I sent them all these cards in the mail. They loved it.

@TG123:  I was a lazy bride. I asked four of them in person and the fifth is interstate so I asked over Facebook (yeah, I know!), but called her shortly afterwards. With each of them, I immediately followed it with “it’s totally ok if you can’t or don’t want to or whatever, we’d be happy to have you there either way!”. Money’s tough lately, so I gave them all a few days to think about it.

Your plans sound good – if I had to choose between doing them all together or separately, I would choose separately. I just think it feels more personal and that a girl won’t feel ‘pressured’ if all the others are there at the same time.

I did each separately, with my sister/MOH first. I wanted to do something cute and different, but much as I love the wooden boxes, I felt bad giving them something random they’d have to keep (I was asked once with a bridesmaid book, which is cute, but what do you DO with it after?)

So I made my own spin on this:

I did my own pieces, but the link above has print & cut which is easy even if you aren’t too crafty. They all liked them and thought it was really cute–they can keep it if they want, but they don’t have to.

@TG123:  I wrote little cards for each girl saying “I couldn’t say I do without you, so now it’s my turn to pop the question – will you be my bridesmaid/maid of honour?” and put it in a little pink and white bag with an infinity ring wrapped in tissue paper 🙂 they all seemed to like it, and it wasn’t overly expensive.

Honestly, I just called them all up (all out of state but one) and asked them. Nothing special at all but they all said yes but one who is giving birth 3 weeks before my wedding so I totally get it.

I just didn’t have the time as my wedding is in March, we booked a venue last month, and I just started asking them over the weekend. All but one still need to get into a store in their city and try on the dress I picked out (hopefully they all like it!). And the dress takes two months to come in, then there’s alternations… so I needed to get them involved ASAP.

For the wedding, I plan on getting them some nice jewelry to wear with their dress as a present, with a very heartfelt handwritten card for each telling them how much I appreicate having them in my life and them agreeing to be in my wedding.

I actually used stuff I had around–I had little white boxes from the dollar store, but they were embossed in a flowery/swirly pattern that didn’t match what I was going for, so I took them apart and turned them inside out.

I’ll try to find a picture once FI gets home (I think they’re on his computer).

Container store would defniitely have them or Michaels/Joann.

Each proposal was different but my best one was definitely in front of the Bellagio at Las Vegas during the water show!
