How did you spend your maternity leave (before baby)?

We still had nursery preparation to do, so I painted, decorated, washed all the bedding and clothing and organized the things I’d need. And nap! Seriously, it is likely you won’t get any extra sleep for several years soon, so take a nap!

If you are feeling particularly ambitious, prepare and freeze meals. You wouldn’t believe how helpful it can be when you are exhausted to be able to take a lasagna out of the freezer and pop it in the oven instead of considering trying to cook.

I have no kids yet but based on my friends’ experience I would suggest a) cooking and freezing casserole-type dishes if you have the freezer space and b) taking time to relax, read, etc before the frenzy begins 🙂

My maternity leave started the day I gave birth, in both pregnancies.

Diamondgurl:  No baby yet, but agree with PPs.

My friend just had her baby last week. Before she gave birth so froze a whole bunch of meals and slept… a lot!

Try to relax and enjoy yourself, and good luck momma!

Did they make you take off early? I hadn’t heard of taking off before going into labor. I’d probably just clean the house and make a bunch of meals just in case, and make sure the nursery is set. 3 weeks is a lot of time!

I only took off a few days before my induction.  I slept in and did some shopping lol

I only had 2 days before I gave birth to each of my girls. I would have driven myself nuts with 3 weeks of waiting!

I cooked, cleaned, organised, had my hair cut and ran errands, caught up with friends etc. I also had a few complications in my last month so I spent a fair few days running between OB appointments, blood tests etc.

Diamondgurl:  Enjoy the time off before you LO arrives!
