How did you tell your parents and in-laws that you were expecting? How did you tell your hubby/fiance?

I am looking for sure ideas!

Also, where did you find cute items to decorate the nursey, buy clothes, etc? etsy? what sellers?

    Thanks bees!

    Inquiring minds want to know!

I called my mom on her birthday to tell her.  Mr. DG just spilled it on the phone one day unceremoniously, but I already had Chicken Soup for Grandmothers to send to his mom :)

i have thought about this for a VERY long time...i'm not pregnant yet and don't have any kids...but I'd LOVE to (depending on how far along you have to be) give them a framed picture of the first sonogram and tell them "here's your first picture of your future grandchild"!

and - if you are - CONGRATS!!!

Well, I told my mom over the phone, and I had her tell my father. However, my parents are a 24 hour drive away, so phoning was the only option for me. My husband was there when I took the pregnancy test, so there wasn't really any telling to do.

For decoration, my SIL found an adorable set (dust ruffle, diaper stacker, quilt, and lamp) on Craigslist. I'm only using the lamp right now, but it's one of my favorite decorations. Some of the others were left over from the baby shower my SIL threw for me. The rest of the decorations I made myself, but they're just animal cut-outs for the walls, so they weren't difficult to make.

My daughter has baby clothes from everywhere. Carters, JcPenney, Jane and Jack, Once Upon a Child (if there's one in your area; they're a second-hand shop), and Gymboree. Most of her clothes are Carters brand though. It's a good brand and I love their clothes.

Heather over on Heather Drive (not I, FYI) had the most creative fun way to tell her loved ones, check it out... I may just do this when I become preggers ;)

i thought it would be fun to give them an "i love my bubbe" and "i love my zaide" mugs (yiddish for grandma and grandpa), but we decided we're too superstisious for that. traditionally jews don't even have a shower or bring any baby things into the house before the baby is born. i'm not going that far, but i'm waiting at least until after my first trimester for that.

we just had dinner with our parents seperately (mine were out of town when we wanted to tell them so we had to wait) and told them over dinner.

well the news of my first pregnancy went down so well with my parents, that when I told them the second time it took me 2 months...and I sort of tried to hide while telling them.

AND THEY WERE HAPPY!!!!!!!!! Full of congratulations and brimming with excitement (its amazing how actually bwing in a stable relationship when falling pregnant can really make ones parents happy HA )

......why didn't it go that way the first time???  Oh yeah...i was pregnant to someone they hadn't really met past a quick hello and from whom at the time I was also broken up with... thats right!!!  However, the real interesting thing was being in the delivrey suite at the hospital

me: "oh Mum thank god your here, I didn't know if you would make it.  Oh yeah this is D BTW, the babies father, you remember him from the brigade thing don't you??  D this is my Mum, C!!! Yes Mum I have been living with D for the past 2 months so he can help with the baby while she is newborn, no mum we aren't back together. Ok lets concentrate on me now, I'm in labour here!!!"

ok ok so it didn't really sound like that, but you get the idea.  My suggestion....don't do it my way.  That was a really screwed up time for me, without a lot of happiness!!!

I saw a cute video online in which a couple gave their parents "World's Best Grandma/Grandpa" t-shirts as gifts to announce the baby. :)

Wow everyone has so many cute idea's. I havent even thougth about it yet. Im debating to tell my Mom that I just got off the pill. We are so close, I feel the need to! Should I?

For Baby clothes, may sound crazy but Kmart and (owned by Sears) have the cutest baby things I have ever seen! More so than Baby's are Us. I recently went to a baby shower and my gifts were the highlights of the day! :)
