We never ordered any prints with our wedding package, and so turned to vistaprint for really pretty diy thank you cards. We want to send them to all of our vendors but will it be weird to send it to our photographer (with a picture THEY took that we turned into the thank you card)???
what did you do??

@Pink Asawa: totally normal. We take it as a compliment!

@Pink Asawa: I think that would only be ok if you had the rights to reproduce the photo. If you don’t have the rights then I would not do it because they could sue you.

The photographer is very unlikely to sue you, even if it’s a violation of the print release. If thank you cards are something they offer then I’d skip the thank you note to them or find another mode of delivery.

do it! wedding photographers always seemed to be ‘overlooked’ when it comes to thanking, so we really appreciate it when clients think of us, and the fact that you want to show off your phtoos on a thank you card is a great compliment 🙂

even if we don’t own the rights to our photos? It’s not like we are using them for promotional purposes, we just made some thank you cards and will make some albums.

Sorry just saw this! Of course I can’t speak for your photographer, but if you have the hig-res images you are usually allowed to use them as you wish for non-commercial purposes… and honestly…all photographers I know LOVE it when our images our used on thank you cards, birth announcements, etc. because you are sending out our work to all of your friends and family…kind of like ‘free’ advertising for us 😉
