"because your love and friendship have helped us become who we are, our parents, ____ and ____ invite you to share in the celebration of our wedding."

I liked it because it was a little personal and let the guests know how much they meant to us. 🙂

My parents are divorced and both remarried. I haven’t decided if my dad & his wife will be on the invitation – it depends on how involved he would like to be / I want him to be. We recently had a serious falling out 🙁 If we don’t include my dad, we won’t include his parents, so he won’t be the only one left out. Here are the options.

Option 1:
Mr. and Mrs. Stepdad and Mom Lastname (not sure if or where to use ampersand)

Mr. and Mrs. Dad and Stepmom Lastname

request the pleasure of your company

at the marriage of their daughter

Danielle Middlename Mybelle

to

Future Middlename Husband

son of Drs. Mom and Dad Husband

Saturday, the nineteeth of June

two thousand and ten

at half past ten in the morning

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Roberts

1234 Address

Franklin, Tennessee

Brunch to follow

Option 2:

Mr. and Mrs. Stepdad and Mom Lastname (not sure if or where to use ampersand)

request the pleasure of your company

at the marriage of their daughter

Danielle Middlename Mybelle

to

Future Middlename Husband

Saturday, the nineteeth of June

two thousand and ten

at half past ten in the morning

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Roberts

1234 Address

Franklin, Tennessee

Brunch to follow

My dad is remarried, and I’m not close with my mom or her boyfriend, so in order to skip the confusion and drama about whose name went where, we just skipped the parents’ names on the invitation. We’re also paying for the wedding ourselves, and this wording just felt right to us.

 **

because your love and support

has helped us become who we are

Diana

and

Eric

Invite you to celbrate with them

as they join their hands and hearts

in marriage

Request the honor of your presence

At the marriage of their daughter

Maureen ELise _______

       to

James Anthony _________

son of

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony _________

Please help us celebrate this occasion

By sharing with them the memories of the past

and the excitement of the future

Together with their families, (we’re paying, my parents are divorced, his family is traveling a far distance, this was more inclusive of all our loved ones!)

Rebekah Last Name

and

Nicholas Last Name

request the honour of your presence at their wedding (our legal ceremony will be on US soil due to immigration, but it will just be the 2 of us. We aren’t telling people this though, just our parents & my uncle, the minister.)

Date

Time

Church Address

Dinner & Drinks to follow

Nothing fancy, but our invites are pretty special. We wanted to get our point across without taking away from the overall awesomeness of our invitations!

For the ceremony plus reception (out of state because we’re a same-sex couple and same-sex marriage isn’t legal here yet, so we’ll only have about 15 guests), we’re using

C_____ V_______ C______
and
S_______ H_____ D_____
are delighted to invite you
to witness and celebrate their wedding
12:00 noon on Tuesday the sixth of October
two thousand nine
at
Temple _____ ________
__ _______ Street, _________, Massachusetts

Reception to follow at 2:00 p.m.
at
Legal Sea Foods
__ ________ Road, __________, Massachusetts

Then for the reception party back home a few days later (maybe 100 guests) we’re doing:

C_______ C________ and S________ D______
invite you to share their happiness
at an evening of music, munchies and merriment
in celebration of their wedding

Friday the ninth of October, two thousand nine
at eight o’clock in the evening

Venue Name
