Just what the title says, how did your parents meet one another? And I mean your mom and dad (or step parent or whomever), not is your parents and your in-laws have met…
We always see stories of how we met our SO’s, but I think sometimes parents have good stories too!
Mine met at a pool hall/bar. My dad and his friends were playing a game of pool, he needed a partner, and my mom just happened to be sitting at the table next to the pool table with her friends, and she said yes, she did know how to play pool. I’m not sure how long after they started dating as my dad was in the midst of a divorce, but they’ve now been married for 35 years. For the record, I have never seen my mother play pool in my life.

My parents met in college and got engaged three months later 🙂 I don’t know much beyond that.
ETA: After reading all of these sweet stories I need to do some further investigating on how exactly they met!

My parents were high school sweethearts. Dad followed mom to college and they got married two weeks after she graduated. They met waaaaay before that though – grew up just blocks apart and went to elementary together.

My dad was the geek who was only intived to parties because he could fix the radio (yes this is some 50 years ago), he’d seen my mom at some parties but she was dating his best friend at the time. One night the guy she was dating couldn’t make it and so my mom didn’t want to go alone to the party and called my dad to see if he’d be the replacement date. He said yes and that’s when they started dating. They are still both very good friends with that guy.

They met in 1st grade, walking to school. They lived two blocks away from each other. Started dating at 15 and never broke up. I grew up a street away from the house they grew up on. It’s sickenly sweet.

My parents met in college… my mom became friends with some classmates of my dad’s when she carpooled to Pittsburgh with them… to visit her boyfriend. She became friends with the people in the carpool, and then met my dad at a party… 33 years later, still married!

My parents met at work while my mom was married to her first husband, they both worked in healthcare finances. I believe my dad was some kind of supervisor over her. Near the end of her marriage and during her divorce my dad hired her to clean his condo and do his laundry as my mom needed the extra cash. Once my mom filed for divorce they started dating and my dad proposed the day after her divorce was finalized. Now the running joke used to be that my mom used to get paid to do his laundry and now she does it for free. However since my dad retired he does all of the laundry and my mom likes to complain to me that he messes up her bras.

One day my dad and his best friend, Bob, decided to take out Bob’s boat and Bob’s girlfriend tagged along and brought her best friend. I think it was a set up but I can’t remember. That best friend was my mother and my parents got married one year and one day after that boat ride. My father signed up for the Coast Guard before he even met my mother and he said that he didn’t want to lose her so he proposed right before he went into basic training and they married when he came home. They’ve been married for 31 years and are still so much in love it’s gross sometimes. 🙂 I only hope that my marriage is as amazing as theirs.
The best friends? They also got married and are still together, here’s hoping the good luck rubbed off on me.

My parents are both veterinarians and met while in vet school.
They were friends for a long time before they started dating. My grandfather was also a veterinarian and hired my dad when my parents were just friends. My dad had a crush on my mom for a long time but never had the nerve to ask her out until finally they and a bunch of their friends went out and my dad got a little bit tipsy – but apparently that gave him enough nerve to ask her out on a date! I think he proposed to her like 3 or 4 times before she said yes. She was afraid to marry him because she didn’t want their relationship to change!
They’ve been married over 30 years and are still the best of friends. Yes, I have those sickening sweet parents.
