Did you see Miss Sloth's blog post this morning? I clicked on the site she gave for ideas and I'm thinking about spray painting a solid color, then lining the edges with ribbon.
We just got ours in the mail so we haven't decorated it yet, but we were thinking of putting little battery lights underneath the layers and poking holes through the cardboard to make little stars, then we'd put ribbon around the edges like in your pic and I was thinking of spray painting it black/blue. I'm scared to start though I don't want to ruin it!
@arenyth Do you think you'd be able to see the lights/stars if it was covered with cupcakes?
I have a few ideas, but I think the problem is deciding if I should do a solid color or pick a couple colors using my wedding colors. I am nervous if I do a couple colors and I don't like it, can I repaint over it?
Does anyone know if they can be painted more than once?
We had the cake place line the tiers with black satin ribbon. And we left them a couple vases of flowers and told them to do whatever they wanted.
I was floored when I got to the reception and saw this.
@pinkpaperbride: If you can see in the pics theyre not entirely covered in cupcakes, so some stars will shine through
@Theresa90405: Which size was your tower? Fi and I were expecting to hold more cupcakes than you have on your top tiers, it looks like maybe you have only 8 on your first tier?
@arenyth: Sorry, I don't know! It belonged to the cake shop...we rented it from them.
I don't see why not! Depending on what color is going over what color, I could see it taking extra coats (if you were painting a dark color over a light one)
If you go to cupcaketree.com, they have tons of pictures. That's where I bought my tree. I am scared to start decorating mine too...

My FI and I are doing cupcakes for the wedding with a small 2 tier cake for the top for cutting and saving. We are still trying to decide on how to decorate the cupcake stand. We are doing a vintage/victorian with a little bit of a wine theme.
So was looking to see how everyone else decorated there's, doesn't have to be the same theme, because you can also take different colors. We looking about getting one of these.
