Is it true that some fabrics won’t photograph as nicely as others? I don’t particularly like the look of satin for my bridal gown or bridesmaid dresses, but was suggested to stay away from matte fabrics, like chiffon, or not-as-shiny fabrics, like taffeta, because they won’t photograph well (dull).

That sounds a little nuts to me. But then, my wedding dress is chiffon.

I never thought about that. I know the colors tend to be a little dull on chiffon type clothing. But I still like the look and the fabric. If your photographer is good then the pictures will probably turn out fine with the chiffon.

My wedding dress was chiffon and it didn’t photograph poorly / dull at all! Get a dress you love!
ETA: Check out my recap from last week if you want to see how a chiffon dress photographed. I think it will dispell any worries anyone has put in your head!

@tamaracks: hehe, no bias, right? 😉 But I agree, otherwise it wouldn’t be such a popular choice… Weddings just make me so neurotic about things that normally don’t matter…hahaha
@Mrs.KMM: Beautiful dress! 🙂

@doublehelix: Thank you! Seriously though – any dress that you love and feel beautiful in will photograph beautifully! Try not to stress too much of what different fabrics will look like and instead just find what you personally love!
