When we were looking at rings from the antique jeweler I’d been in love with since I was 16, I always thought I wanted a sapphire. However, last minute before ordering I began looking at champagne diamonds, which I’d never known even existed, and fell in love with a ring. I knew the center stone would be smaller than the sapphire, and more expensive, but I loved the look of the ring too much to not get it.
The beauty of buying online- the hand model they used must have been 6 years old because the center stone is MUCH smaller than it was in the photo. I absolutely love, love, love my ring- but I wish the stone was bigger (it’s about 3/4 ct).
We can’t afford to have any changes made yet, but I was thinking that maybe when we do a vow renewal someday, we could have the center stone changed out for a bigger one. After looking around, 1.5+ champagne diamonds aren’t hideously expensive.
But how hard is it to change a ring? I’ve seen some girls on here who had changes made, so I’m just wondering how difficult it is and how much it could end up costing me.
My ring is platinum, with a 6 prong setting around my center stone. I’ve uploaded a photo of my ring (but I also have the wedding band on that I snuck a peek at when FI was at work! shhh).
