@lorelai: It's called a reception card, and it is included in with the invite. Look at this http://www.basicinvite.com/wedding-etiquette/reception-card-wording. Google "reception card," and a million things pop up ;)
If it's pretty much immediately after, you can put it on the invitation:
Reception to Follow
Really Swanky Hotel Yay
If the time difference is extreme and guests cannot go straight for ceremony to reception, you should use a reception card as the PP said.
I am trying to squeeze that info in on the bottom of my invite. I don't want to pay $80 extra for a freaking reception card.
Your responses are so helpful - thanks so much! I'll likely try to squeeze it on the invite now that I know this, but good to know that reception cards are also commonplace, just in case.
@TiffanyMM: Thank you for this link - It's got some really useful info.
@ella86: Pretty invite!

I can't believe I don't know this! Help?
On invitations the location of the ceremony is usually listed, but I've only ever seen "Reception to follow" (or something similar) on the invite.
How do guests know where and when to go for the reception?
Is it just a matter of including an extra card/paper with info in the invite envelope? Have you ever seen an invite that includes the time and place of the reception on the invite?
Thanks for your help, Bees!
