Are your invitations already bought and printed?
Because if not, the right way to do this is to use a write-in line on the invitation itself, where you would write the names of the parents and their children; or write it on a belly-band attached around the invitation.
You REALLY do not want to name children on the outside of an envelope, because you cannot guarantee that everyone has secure mailboxes, or who lives in their neighbourhood. You do NOT want to be the one responsible for advertising children's first names to the local paedophile! Okay if the children are in their late teens, or if you know that they pick up their mail from a key-locked maildrop. But if you aren't sure, this is a good time to protect their privacy.
You can always choose a wide ribbon in your wedding colours, and make a belly-band just for the invitations where you have this particular issue.

All of the etiquette rules say leave "and Family" off of the outer envelope and write the children's names on the inner envelope but where do I invite the children if I don't have an inner envelope?
