ok i know from your other board posting that your wedding is not for a while~! don't order now~! it's ok if you wait. my friend did m&ms for her wedding favors and asked me to order them like 2 months early..problem was that it was still warm and i was so paranoid about the m&ms melting. you can't refridgerate them because the color gets weird also.
now i have to tell my crazy not ordering enough m&ms story..she wanted the custom printed m&ms with her and her FI's names and wedding date, so i ordered it for them. i obviously can't do math because i was so ridiculously off. we made little bags of them for 275 people and i was no where near close enough when i ordered 36 7oz bags. i got so lucky that her colors were pink because the night before when me and the other bm were putting the bags together, we realized how short we were going to be and ended up running to the closest drug store at MIDNIGHT before the wedding and ended up buying TEN more big bags of pink breast cancer m&ms~!!!
anyway..so i suggest the 5lb bags..and to wait on ordering them until your wedding's closer...
as for an inexpensive alternative, i have to say, those little mesh bags are super cheap..i didn't find anything as cheap as those. but here are the ones i researched and found for my friend's wedding:

i hope all this helps~!
hi sweeney! here's a favor calculator that i found useful: http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-blog/the-2-by-2-favor-box/. it calculates exactly how much candy you'll need to fit in a 2x2 favor box (not just m&m's, but other types of candy also).
No no no, I'm not going to order - but at least you know me well enought to say so! LOL.
I'm trying to finalize this budget a bit better and make cuts where need to be because as of right now we're WAY - and I do mean WAY over so I'm just checking into thigs. Thus meaning I need to know approx. how much to order so I can get a good guess on what I may be spending.
Thanks so much for all your help!!!!!!!! :-)

are you getting the M&M's personalized? that is more expensive, but could be really cute!
you can use glassine envelopes too! they are inexpensive and pretty b/c you can see the colors shine through. :) you could also staple a label to it at the top and it would look totally cute.

I'm kinda thinking about going ahead and ordering some M&M's even though I didn't want to in the first place, for the reception.
I just don't know how many to order...I'm going to have about 235 people at the wedding but how do I know what to order???
I can get them in 7 oz bags or 5 lb bags.....
Any other M&M-ers out there that can tell me how they figured it out.
I'm also looking for an inexpensive, NON Tulle holder for it - any suggestions???
